Seems on all platforms logic isn't a factor when it comes into any renumbering.

C4's coverage of the Anniversary Games this afternoon was a bit hit and miss. It was produced by FilmNova rather than Sunset+Vine/IMG, who I think have done most of their coverage of paralympic events as well as the games themselves, so wonder if that explains why they had a rather weak theme tune instead of the one we all now associate with their coverage. Camera work on the track events wasn't brilliant at all, missing the final strides in a couple of cases and seemingly taking ages to confirm results. Also interestingly the clock changes midway through when they switched to the Mall - initially they used a black clock with the C4 logo, then switching to a white strap in the style of the Paralympic astons with "LIVE" and the time written on them.

Also a shame they couldn't ditch Come Dine with Me tonight on More4 to screen the evening session rather than just broadcasting it online.

New Sky Sports News studio looks good - goes live on August 12th. The Mirror say SSN is moving from Sky channel 405 to 401, which seems odd - presumed it would move to 407/8 when Sky Sports 5 launched (also on August 12th).

Quote:
The new studio which looks like Captain Picard's bridge will allow presenters to walk around and interact with guests rather than stay behind a desk.

“This gives us great flexibility and gives us the chance to tackle things in a different way,” said Karen Willmington, the channel’s Head of Output."

Video in the article suggests there will be some slight tweaks to the on air graphics - no more all upper case by the looks of it!

Looks like the Fox News desk in monochrome and with a sofa, dunno if I'm impressed. Will wait till it is on air.

So this is what Sky Sports News have been working on. I expected them to move into their revamped studio by the start of the new football season. Looks like it'll be impressive.

I hope Soccer Saturday comes from this studio.

It's gone from Virgin 515 to 501, so may not seem so far fetched.

Any technical reason why they couldn't use 400?

That really is quite silly if not.

BTS gain rights to Portuguese Primeira Liga. Options over 4 fixtures per 'matchday'.

I'm not sure why Mr Cornwall has chosen to vary his terminology, but for the uninitiated: Premiership = top-flight, and Edinburgh derbies = Hibs v Hearts clashes.

Indeed - BTS has become plain old BT. I prefer the plain and simple British Telecommunications Sport and British Sky Broadcasting Sports.

Perhaps Asa should initiate a script which changes such abbreviations into their correct names, or introduce BT Sport / Sky Sports emoticons.

Some presentation minutiae from British Telecommunication plc's sports network, as seen on last night's Rugby 7's coverage:
  • the picture-in-picture device is now called the BT Box, and has its own logo
  • the OB presenters have new microphone cubes, which feature the BT Sport app logo, and are so big that they barely leave the presenter any space to hold the microphone
