I wonder if the other daytime shows will cover Piers' exit? I imagine it'll feature on Jeremy Vine for sure but I'm not sure on the ITV daytime shows.

The whole thing is a farce to avoid serious sanctions by Ofcom for breaching impartiality.
Clearly Piers went too far. To try and make amends the sequence with the weather presenter and Piers walking off was engineered as evidence they have a strong range of voices and opinions. Today they attempt to stand by that by not apologising but explaining why he’s no longer there.

There was an article yesterday morning I'd seen where Carolyn McCall where she said about the show covering both sides, opinions and so on. I know they've said they believe what Meghan said regarding mental health, but there's been nothing in any official statement by ITV on that aspect, or from what I've seen on screen this morning.

ITV have really let themselves down. They even agreed to 'let him quit'. His ass should have been fired and ITV execs should have had a statement explaining their decision and how he went against their mental health campaign.

Maybe, considering Schofield was mocking Piers' walk-off on This Morning yesterday.

Bit firing Piers would have made him a martyr. Imagine a tribunal etc where ‘free speech’ is then the central issue. Potentially costly for ITV too.

I think the ITV statement speaks for itself, especially the ‘we have nothing further to add’. There was deliberately no ‘we thank Piers for all his work etc’ as you’d normally get in an amicable parting.

Susanna's opening statement was strange - it danced around the issue of Morgan's departure without really addressing it substantively. It felt like it was a pre-approved statement whereas what Ranvir said felt 'more natural'

I imagine it must feel slightly awkward of Susanna as she was present on both shows, and as far as I can tell said nothing on screen to challenge Piers.

I know another poster previously predicted this yesterday, but that statement from Susanna and the general mood in the studio in that clip genuinely had some serious parallels with Jennifer Aniston's equivalent in The Morning Show.

Absolutely has parallels with The Morning show! I feel this gif is appropriate today 😂

With everyone's predictions as to who will replace Piers, there seems to be an assumption that Susanna will stay. In my experience decisions like this usually mean a big, sweeping change otherwise the programme looks stale. Susanna is very much associated with the Piers era. If she goes they can start afresh with a big new personality. I think she'll be gone by the summer.

If she leaves that will be seen as her supporting Piers' comments that caused him to leave. If she wants to distance herself from the debacle she'll be wanting to get her head down and stick with the programme until it's all forgotten about.
