That rug on the floor doesn't look great in real life compared to on screen does it. Looks like they've used it every year since 1990

Very few pieces of scenery look as great in real life as they do on the telly

I thought just that when I went to see HIGNFY recorded a few years ago - I was amazed.

Interesting that the London Studios website now has just one sentence - "The London Studios closed on 30th April 2018". Well, that is not true, as HIGNFY continued to record there until last Friday. The studios I think closed last week, so a month or so out. http://www.londonstudios.co.uk/

The company called The London Studios closed on 30th April, that was when the majority of its staff were made redundant and so it effectively ceased operating then.

The programmes made after that were presumably those that were booked in before the closure decision. They were crewed by freelancers
DE88 and Lou Scannon gave kudos

I didn't even think it was a rug. Not sure what I thought it was - just one of those things that's always been there.

Studio TC1 at Television Centre. They will be there until Friday 17th August 2018, and most likely they will return there in late September for their autumn season.

TC1 is proving to be very popular studio with The Graham Norton Show, The Last Leg and Mock The Week all using it this week.

If only someone had thought of making it a studio sooner.

Although probably not their first choice of studio.

None of those shows (Graham Norton perhaps excepted) need a studio of that size. Something TC3 or TC8 sized would be fine for those shows, but nothing else is available in a convenient location to get an audience in and out of.

So these shows are likely paying a premium to hire a studio much bigger than they need because nothing else is available.

It was noted that Television Centre originally were planning to keep one extra studio TC4, however money came into question, so only three were kept.

ITV Daytime's contract for TC2 and TC3 means no one can use them apart from ITV Daytime shows, so they have to go elsewhere. I think Riverside Studios will be open later this year which will help.
