The building was always designed so that the office tower and studio block could be operated separately - however, the main studios and scene docks don't really seem suitable for use as anything other than studios. Do they intend to turn them into offices with no natural light?

ITV does already have a few offices with no windows (or just the odd skylight) so it wouldn't be a huge surprise.

I wouldn't be surprised if the props bay and This Morning studio will be demolished for a new build, it's pretty much the only part of the site that could be built up on.

Also when they say all of their London colleagues I wonder if this will include their numerous indies scattered around the city.

I'd be interested to see what they do with the tower's offices which are already pretty modern and pleasant to work in.

The building housing Studio 8 (This Morning), officially known as Princes Wharf, is not owned by ITV. It is leased from Coin Street community builders. No doubt they will be negotiations between the two.

So is TLS considered a different facility to where GMB / This Morning etc are currently produced?

Yes and No.

Both operations are 'run' by TLS - but the reality is that the ITV Daytime studios are set-standing most of the time so can only be marketed for a few external clients.

The bulk of what is referred to as TLS - and the bit that is closing - are the studios that are not permanently bought out and have regular set-strike shows - like Norton, Last Leg etc.

ITV's intention is to have one set of crews working solely across the ITV daytime programming strands. That's been the proposal for a while.

Let's hope they remember the artificial lake underneath the studio podium block or someone could be getting wet feet.

Apologies if I seem stupid, but I'm confused. Would ITV move back its daytime programmes to the london studios after redevelopment or are they intending to permanently relocate their programmes to new studios?

My reading of the initial email to staff at the start of this thread is that they would return to the studios in South Bank.

I think the terminology makes it tricky to get the correct meaning unless you are familiar with the setup.

"The London Studios" are the facilities that are marketed to external clients. I think that is what is closing. A bit like BBC Resources Ltd was.

I assume that ITV is the owner of TLS?
Stuart and BroadcastWales gave kudos

Daytime would return to the South Bank building, what is going is the large studios that could be hired out by any show, including a number of other ITV shows that aren't on year round.

I was under the impression that Gabriel's Wharf was owned by ITV - I'd heard a previous version of the plans which had them building a new tower on that site, and moving in there - but Lambeth Council weren't too keen.

My reading of that is that the studios are going. Is that right?

EDIT: That is the case.

Gabriels wharf has nothing to do with ITV.
