Some news about Primeval series 3

Quote:
Jason Flemyng and Laila Rouass have joined the cast of Primeval for the ITV show's extended third season, which has entered production today.

41-year-old Flemyng, best known for roles in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, Snatch and Stardust, will play Danny Quinn - 'a maverick policeman drawn into the mystery by the death of his brother'. Rouass, who became a sex symbol after her role as Amber in Footballers' Wives, will take on the role of Egyptologist Sarah Page.

The comparatively unknown Ben Mansfield will also be joining Nick Cutter's monster-fighting team as their bodyguard Captain Becker.

The regular cast of Douglas Henshall, Hannah Spearritt, Ben Miller, Andrew-Lee Potts, Lucy Brown and Juliet Aubrey are all back, but there is no news as to whether James Murray's character Stephen will be resurrected following his apparent demise at the end of the second season.

Monsters to be encountered by the ARC team during the third season's ten episodes, to be broadcast in early 2009, include the fearsome Giganotosaurus, a demonic crocodile Pristichampus and the dragon Dracorex.

Primeval's producer Tim Haines said: "I'm delighted that Primeval is back and its extended run of ten episodes demonstrates not only a confidence at ITV, but a real
desire from the fans to see more of Cutter and the team in action."

Going back to Pushing Daises, the reason that ITV give for skipping ep 2 is the scheduling of euro 2008, but thinking about it, instead of airing American pie, again, why couldn't they have aired the first two episodes back to back?

It would have to be in a much earlier slot as the boxing was on and it looks like they want it in an established time slot (9pm).

New Programmes Coming To ITV4

ITV4 seems to be upping their game at the moment, not only in terms of programming, but especially in presentation with two of its new advertising campaigns looking very nice, very original, and actually advertising the channel in a good way.

The trailers that I'm talking about are for their summer of sport (which does look like a good line up), and the even better new ITV4 ACTION MOVIES trailer where they have created it to resemble 60's cartoon movie title sequences.

Well, next Thursday at 9pm we have Briatin's Rich List: Giving it Away (UEFA Cup in Scotland), so it must have 'ended' tonight.

It's 'Britain's rich list' next week

Why do you call them 'filler'? Factual programmes like this are an important part of the schedule. The current run is also brand new episodes

ITV call them filler programming.

Rock Rivals will be ending its series in the 2-2.5m range. How this trash got commisioned I don't know. I wonder if the show that replaces it will get better ratings, however The Apprentice is gaining viewers, this week it got 7m.

I've always enjoyed the From Hell series. It has the right balance of graphic realism and evidence to get the heart of the stories as the events happened as opposed to something like Panorama or Tonight which are mainly narrative reflections.

Do we think it's a good thing or not that ITV1 are leaving their poor performing programmes to play out on air - in the same slot, when just a few years ago they'd have probably been pulled after episode 2 - and far better programmes have been.

I know it's a case of what do they replace them with, and would they do any better when up against something like The Apprentice, but I struggle to see how they justify keeping something which has been in the 2-3m bracket throughout the series and been widely critically panned.
