I thoroughly enjoyed Beat The Star tonight, great format, nice mix of challenges, and Vernon Kay was great as a host. I just hope that they vary the challenges and we don't have the milking the cow every week. Other than that it was well made, and a very good entertainment show from ITV.
The only problem that I find is that with You've Been Framed and Beat The Star, it had a great Saturday Night feel, which was then followed by Foyle's War, with the next programme scheduled Headcases at 10pm, it doesn't quite flow that greatly. But they've always had a good Sunday night drama line up, so why should they spoil it for light entertainment?

It was a bit of a You Bet / Don't Try This at Home hybrid. Not bad.
"Schlag-den-raab" is the German format on which it is based.
Interesting to see that they filmed this in Cologne to use the studio that ProSieben use. If you look on this website, you'll see everything is identical. Must have been more economical to move the contestants / celebs / families out there than to do it back over here. I wonder if the rest of the audience were made up of local Germans or British ex-pats ?
I can't think of a show that's done like this before, or was it just for the pilot episode ?

I agree completely. It's so flipping annoying - both to viewers who want to watch the film, and viewers who want to catch the news. I see no reason why News at Ten can't be Monday - Friday!

I see no reason why it can't be Sunday to Friday.
Take Sunday night, how difficult is it to do this:
7.30 Corrie
8.00 Flood
10.00 News at Ten
10.35 Headcases
11.05 South Bank Show

The previous Friday it's off - Family Album is on.
This is a temporary Sunday thing, the following Friday it's on twice. So in that week we have Sunday/Monday/Monday/Wednesday/Friday/Friday - overkill.

Well Sunday isn't necessary and gives them the flexibility, but as you say Friday isn't brain science.
Is Corrie moving back to Sundays then - is it scheduled for Friday 8.30pm later in the week?
And why the five minute off-set - 7.30pm/8pm/10pm would be fine.

For some strange reason they split the series around Wild at Heart which ran alongside Dancing on Ice. They had 3 episodes remaining when the series was split in January.

Strange then - I guess they're wanting to give Flood a lift, though I'm not sure it's necessary - Foyle's War has been doing OK.
What happened to Heartbeat - didn't it return a few weeks ago and disappear a couple of episodes later?

Well not really as its the same number of episodes over that fortnight period so its not more overkill than it always is. Personally id prefer it 3 or at the very most 4 episodes a week but thats an entirely different discussion.
Typical of them to use Corrie to help boost another show.
So much for their "soap free weekends" then. This does bode well for the return of the Sunday Corrie if they cant manage without it!
