Because, correct me if I'm wrong, GMTV launched from that studio in 1993 until its last day in 2010?

I think that some point in early 2010, GMTV temporarily moved to a different studio because Daybreak's new set was being constructed in their usual studio. Then, Daybreak were then in this studio until the 2012 revamp. It was empty from 2012-2014, until GMB launched.

Not quite. Daybreak started in Studio 7. GMTV relocated because Al Jazeera took a long term booking on Studio 5 till 2012. After that it was used by Strictly: It Takes Two and then GMB moved in.

Did you forget that Daybreak had real glass windows?

Why would playing a theme tune that's a couple of years old pay tribute to a 45 year old studio complex? As has been said, it's bound to be a "for the last time" v/o.

Any possibility of mashing the LWT ident into the GMB theme, if they are paying tribute to the history of the building?

If it turns out to be a damp squib then we can all watch this video and pretend it’s on tv:

Interesting to see a young Maxine Mawhinney and all the promo stuff for the Monday-Thursday presenters who didn't last long.

And also Emma Jesson, during that period when oddly the weather was done from Birmingham.

Would TV-AM have usually been on air live on New Year's Day, and if they weren't, I don't know why they bothered launching on that day, why not just show kids shows and launch properly on Monday.

They obviously knew nobody was watching as they wouldn't have launched with the 'B' team if they were.

I suppose they thought that the newspaper journalists would be watching so it was an opportunity to set out their stall (including clips of the ‘A’ team) and get coverage on Saturday/Sunday that would encourage people to watch on Monday. Maybe they wanted Michael Wilson and Fiona Armstrong on Friday 1st but I remember Fiona being anxious to not be away from her family in Scotland for too much and Fridays were a particular sticking point. She later resigned when she was asked to do Fridays as well when Anne Davies went on maternity leave (at least that’s what I remember - is that right?).

But it would have been strange to have a mixed team - rather have the Friday presenters do Friday and wait until Monday to do the first show with the main presenters.

Also, a show on Friday with few viewers would be a good chance to do a “dress rehearsal” ahead of Monday.

Anyone notice that they misspelled Yesterday as Yesturday in one of the tags at the start of the show?

Does that imply that they’re using the 2014 theme?
