It was quite noticeable that there were a few problems. Also Susanna at that moment wasn't at the desk as when the camera zoomed out of piers to the two presenter shot she could be seen sitting down.
This is pure speculation but I remember there being some comment here when the BBC did a programme opening from the desk rather then standing (in the TV Centre days), it was explained that the radio talkback had failed but there is a plug in point at the desk.
Could Susanna being seen sitting down be a hasty reposition to the desk for a similar reason?

GMB presenters only stand up in front of the desk for the TOTH. These technical problems took place at 7:25. It also seems there was no 7am TOTH and the 8am intro took place at 8:06. I'm sure this is the first time with the exception to the election and refferendum special where there hasn't been a newsreader with Piers and Susanna.

I felt it was a bit of a mess this morning what with the timings being so drastically off and the constant changing from the breaking news to the Grenfell Tower story. Did think it was a bit wierd that they ran with Lorraine and JK aswell but nvm.

I wasn't really surprised, while it was another horrible terror event, it wasn't really as significant as we saw with the tower fire, or the recent London attacks just a couple of weeks ago and it wasn't really a developing or breaking story which needs rolling coverage - it had happened and new information was minimal.

It's probably because there was no point having Charlotte in the studio doing nothing, so they deployed her to Downing Street
