Always said though with GMB they should go retro and put an analogue clock inside the blob rather than the name, though at launch the shape of the logo wasn't familar enough to risk that - and not sure it still is.

Some of their audience may not be able to understand an analogue clock . . . Smile

Fair enough to have a small programme logo, but why also have a channel logo, unless it's just to irritate STV?

Most of the time on BBC Breakfast, I don't see either the channel name or programme name, but I know what I'm watching.

Well you say "on BBC Breakfast", but how can you really be sure? Wink

Thumbs up

There does seem to be a conscious effort to shoehorn in as much visual reference to "itv" as is humanly possible. The frontcap at the top of each hour, the main titles, the DOG, the multiple "itv" logos on parts of the set, and the split screen for DTLs etc identifying "ITV Studios London" (when just either of the latter two words would have been conventional/sufficient)... etc

When I watched the first ever GMB and was greeted by the "itv" frontcap at the very start, my very first thought was that ITV plc were basically saying "Nah-nah na-nah-nah" to STV and UTV.

Logo, clock and ticker is fine but the aston telling you the current feature (which also now appears on This Morning) is just unnecessary.

I disagree. I'll often be doing other things whilst watching breakfast telly and the straps telling me what item it is can be helpful if you come in half way through.

I hear the same reliable format when I'm listening from the bathroom.

Regardless of the presenter, I know what time it is, because they are either talking about business, national or local weather, about local news, or I hear the stings for the half-hour/ TOTH.

It's reliable and consistent. I know it's BBC Breakfast on the basis of that. I suspect they would be foolish to change that level of recognition.

If I heard something else, I would assume a BREAKING NEWS story, or if it was complete and utter drivel about 'Big Brother', 'X-Factor' etc . . . then I'd assume the dog had stood on the remote control and changed the channel. Sad

Dogs are intelligent animals - they wouldn't be switching over to GMB.

I'm surprised nobody has commented on GMB's latest recruit... Jerry Springer will be on hand to guide us Brits through the US election. Not a bad signing in my opinion, plus I really like the music on the trailer, I'm afraid I don't know how to post the video but its on the front page of the GMB website http://www.itv.com/goodmorningbritain

That sounds a bit like the BBC Breakfast News theme from 1997.
