Oh no!!! What happened to Helen Warner's "research" that people wanted a newsier-type show - GMB was going to be the best show ITV Breakfast had ever produced!
Lighter, softer music just like the show and the content - and just like GMTV/Daybreak v2.0. Most of the show from the sofa - just like GMTV/Daybreak v2.0.
I've always supported ITV Breakfast and given their shows/re-launches a chance but they are an absolute joke. They're digging they're own grave again. The ratings will NEVER rise.
I'm sorry, but what the f***!!! I've just put on STV+1 to see all sorts of nonsense. What the hell is that music and voice-over all about?
I thought they had done extensive research by going to America and bringing elements from GMA and Today? Where has all that gone? They've even mucked about with the times of the local news and putting it back to where it was pre-Daybreak.
I always watch ITV Breakfast in the morning, but this is enough to make me switch off. ITV will never learn until they leave something as it is for longer than 5 minutes.
Well that was awful. The new desk is horrible, I see no reason whatsoever as to why they made changes to the set when their format is the biggest problem. The launch of good morning Britain was one of the few times they got the format right, only for it to be changed a few months later into what was there before. The set was visually nice and modern, the presentation and American style graphics felt fresh and new. Although I knew they would make changes and the same mistakes that they made with daybreak. i can't see this show lasting until the end of this year.
Here is the 8am open from the sofa as well as the closing of today's show in HD. More videos can be found on my channel here which includes the 6am and 7am opens.

The original GMB TOTH was strong, bold and greeted the day with a confident clarion call… its dramatic sweep complemented by the voiceover announcing with authority an exciting live event from the heart of the capital.
Disappointed to discover the dramatic fanfare replaced by an insipid doorbell and the authority in the voiceover ditched in favour of the childish excitement of telling the time correctly for the first time ("ready to play, what's the day… live, through the square window").
The music sounds almost like its based off the GMB weather sting , not too sure about it but the overall feel of the show today was a lot better than "stiff upper lip GMB" (last year) , which lets face it does not suit ITV's image at all.
Does anyone else think that the Lorraine theme sounds more serious than GMB's? I mean seriously though, why change it? I don't think the music will do much to bring in new viewers, it's main focus should be on the content, how long until they get rid of the desk all together and start axing presenters? Probably soon, ITV will never learn from their mistakes and it saddens me a little as when they started in April, it had a great look and feel and what have we got now? GMTV v3?
Like Daybreak, I gave GMB a chance at launch. Whilst I liked the format as it was very new and daring in the UK, I switched back to Breakfast. This was because I felt the need on GMB was run through so quickly and important stories to me were not delivered with great depth.
After watching these videos this morning, it looks like ITV are making another error with their breakfast format. It's Daybreak all over again with its various relaunches over its short life. As I'm probably one of the viewers it's trying to attract, I can assure you that a minor tweak in the opening sequence, a new desk and a new voiceover will not tempt me over.
