I think they have more important things to worry about, like the loss of £30 million in advertising revenue.

I can see what you mean and obviously that is a huge problem but what is he point in allowing branding to slide on top of that if they are consistent with the name. I personally don't like it being called "channel 5" and have always said it was best "five" but if they are going to inject money and time into making it the first then they should stick by it. This is of course if Viacom haven't fully taken over and are beginning to take it back to pre-2011.

Just saw a "drama on 5" ad and I must say it was a pretty different take from the usual channel 5 ads. It was the same font being used but instead of horribly over the top of the image it was at the side. Glass shatterings had clips of the programmes in, it's easily the best promo I've seen since the rebrand in 2011. I hate to add to my questioning of "five" but I honestly think they are pushing towards a rebrand here.

At the end there is a ident from last year with the same Drama on 5 logo, so the idea must of been in the pipeline a while.

When I left Channel 5 TX earlier this year, there were plans for a rebrand around April. Clearly the plans have been put back due to the Viacom purchase, but I don't know by how long.

The part that gets me is when the shattering pieces start to form the logo. This branding has always been very flat and this just doesn't fit IMO unlike the 2008 - 2011 logo when it would do stuff like this to form a five logo.

I don't know how long it has been there for but it wasn't there a couple of weeks ago IIRC but on the channel 5 Wikipedia page Viacom is now listed as the owner. If and when do you think we'll see a rebrand for the station?

I would imagine there will be a rebrand, yes. It is unlikely they will cancel it all together.

I'm REALLY hoping they ditch the channel like David Pullen said back in 2002 "Channel 5 is a name, five is a brand"

Sorry to say, but I doubt that will happen. Keep dreaming.

Since Viacom are the owners, does that mean Channel 5 might rebrand as Viacom5?

I don't see why it would, Viacom owns MTV, Viva, Nickelodeon these don't carry Viacom.
