Derry Girls advert has appeared on itv this evening. Big version of Channel 4 logo on top right.

Sort of like the old days of cross promo

Channel 4 advertising their shows on ITV - is this 1989 or 2019? That is a surprise. I thought the cross promotion ended in January 1993?

OT but the cross promotion did go on for some years after 1993, until 1998 or so, as part of the “funding formula” or insurance policy which the ITC mandated in case Channel 4 selling its own advertising didn’t work out as well as it actually did.

Indeed, because the ITC fined Meridian in 1995 for refusing to run trailers for C4's premiere of Four Weddings And A Funeral, which was in breach of their licence as they were required to run them.

Last night The Simpsons was shown at 1:25am! Was this for less censoring or another reason to fill the timeslot?

I mean, having a little think before posting is not the worst thing.

You do realise The Simpsons is aired at all hours of the day on Channel 4 across the schedule and doesn't exclusively live in the 6pm weekday slot?

Yeah, that was clearly there as filler. They often show it on weekend mornings too.

Pat Laffan, best known as Pat Mustard in Father Ted, has died.

Hold on, I thought everyone said that nobody would watch it with “just a tent, Paul Hollywood and adverts”? Do you mean to say those people were wrong?!

It means that the series is attracting enough interest to justify continuing production beyond the current contract - nothing more, nothing less.
