Challenge said before they wanted Run The Risk (or Double Dare, whichever one it was) but it was only available as part of the entire Saturday morning show it came from for whatever reason but one of the shows was extracted and repeated separately but that was as far as the discussion got.

Not that I'd complain about Going Live or Live & Kicking being repeated!

Motormouth ain't gonna happen. Wiped (apparently) in 2010 (according to a Lost Episodes post) and there's no paperwork anyway. The Mousetrap segment was quite good though.

I'd question if that is the case or not, there's so many stories, rumours and myths surrounding the TVS archive that we'll probably never really know what's true or not. On the internet people make these sorts of claims, with nothing to back them up, and they rapidly become "fact".

The fact that Jim Henson have themselves posted up clearly broadcast quality clips from the UK Fraggle Rocks that have according to other accounts missing or only exist on VHS makes me wonder what is actually out there, and where.

What would (or could) actually happen if in the somewhat rather unlikely event Challenge dared to broadcast episodes (for example) of any gameshow made by TVS, such as All Clued Up or (pre-Carlton) Catchphrase, in 2-3am graveyard slots at weekends?

Missing paperwork or not, who would sue who, should it result in any legal disputes?

Come on, can't the powers that be just relax over shows from 30 years ago??

Guess if you wait another 20 years they'll be exempt from copyright.

The trouble I guess Challenge have is when you're looking for modern classics from the last 15-20 years there isn't much to pick from - the ITV regions were their main source of material and apart from Millionaire and the occassional one series wonder ITV stopped really making primetime game shows once the soaps dominated the schedules and only The Chase and Tipping Point really took off enough in daytime to have repeat value, though Challenge could do worse than pick up 1000 Heartbeats.

The situation isn't much better on the BBC - possibly worse due to their short runs. Have Eggheads and The Weakest Link ever run on Challenge, or indeed Mastermind, University Challenge and Only Connect. Those three back to back would fill out a 2 hour slot nicely.

Eggheads has definately been on Challenge. I think the US version of the Weakest Link has too, but not the UK one.

I remember them showing the US I'm A Celeb too.

Challenge have the potential to be so much more in 2019 than what it is currently in 2018, let's hope they shortly update us with new old acquisitions for the coming year like they used to.

Bit longer than 20 years I think, copyright runs for 70 years from the death of the creator of the work, so Adolf Hitler's Mein Kempf fell into the public domain Jan 1st 2016, 70 years after he died for example.

TVS situation may be slightly different though, so its probably safe to wait until Jan 1st 2063, which will be 70 years after TVS went off the air so... Smile

I still like to think the entire archive and the paperwork will turn up somewhere. If long lost Morecambe & Wise episodes can turn up in abandoned cinemas and Dr Who episodes turn up in cupboards that haven't been opened in a month of Sundays, there's hope yet.

When Challenge last updated their idents which must be less than 2 years ago, I thought there would be new shows in the pipeline. However, sadly mistaken. The last time they had a range of shows was back when they had the speech bubble logo and the Pointless theme for their idents.

It would be good if they would actually acknowledge our recommendations on Twitter or Facebook but they likely won't.

The UK version of the Weakest Link has definitely been shown on Challenge too.

I must admit, I don’t recall the US I’m a Celeb being shown, but it would be nice if they got the rights to some earlier UK series of I’m A Celeb.

I've definitely seen some UK Weakest Link on Challenge; I seem to recall it being the prime time (US-style) set stuff, and maybe toward the end of the VMTV era or the very beginning of the Sky era.
