Yes, the first 5 episodes of the recent series adapts the majority of the Total Control book and is pretty faithful, but then the series got extended whilst being written, so the second half is completely original but obviously links back to the original TV series. Shame they couldn't get the original actress to return to play Dinah though. The last episode obviously resolves the Total Control plotlines as well as the rest of the story.
There is the 2nd reboot book Mortal Control released last year, which presumably another series could adapt if it gets made. However, there are also Revenge of the Demon Headmaster (the Hunky Parker one), and Facing the Demon Headmaster books that have never been adapted, which I'm sure with a bit of re-writing could use the new characters if needed.
I remember in December that the BBC were considering a second series. It now appears that it may not be happening as none of the cast mentioned a recommission. I doubt there are going to be many CBBC shows filming this summer, so the next year will be filled with a lot of repeats.
My friend works for CBBC and an email was supposedly sent around giving details of which programmes were still going ahead and being filmed from September/October. My friend was glad as it gave them a bit of reassurance as to what their next job will be!
One thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet (despite being commissioned) is a new 3 part drama with a mid 2000s CBBC legend.

Imagine they'll be based on Jaqueline Wilson's latest books of the same name. Really true to the original story/series and see Tracy living on a council estate with her daughter.
One of the new imports for CBBC, they have Endlings which started a few weeks ago, and another series to do with Baseball or football or something, I can’t remember the name.
I had watched the premiere of The Next Step 200 episode special programme on Wednesday night.
I watched it for the first time because I had intended to watch one of Michael Portillo's railway episodes from Germany on BBC Two at that point. Unfortunately Michael's new Continental railway episode on BBC Two hasn't aired yet. A schedule change happened on BBC Two with a repeat of Amazing Hotels which was aired after the Snooker coverage had switched over to BBC Four.
I watch TNS on both RTÉ2 & CBBC HD. RTÉ2 has the BBC Worldwide rights deal to show their programmes in Ireland.
It was nice to see a good number of the past & present cast members returning for this special episode while they were at home online talking to each other in pairs about their time when they played their characters on the previous seasons of the show.
I thought this special episode was good for the times we were in at present; but due to the Covid restrictions remaining in place in the country in where it was filmed; I felt something was definitely missing in this special episode. It didn't feel like a proper celebration of 200 episodes at all without a big gathering of young fans around them on the official set as the cast members talked to each other about their time on the show. The cast members being professional dancers; could have given a few special dance collaborations with other cast members as a big gift to the fans as a way to properly celebrate the show's 200 episode if Covid wasn't with us.
From seeing one of the very big celebratory episodes of Blue Peter last year; I understandably knew that this TNS special on Wednesday night during the current Covid pandemic just didn't have that feeling at all which was disappointing. It just felt a bit empty while I watched it because passing 200 episodes in production is no mean feat. It's a very big achievement to surpass that number of episodes when you're working on a television drama series for a young people's audience. I did not expect it to go past that figure.
Did CBBC had a plan to put on a big celebration for it to properly celebrate 200 episodes to the fans if Covid didn't exist?

I expect they had big plans for it but couldn’t do much, they did a top 5 episode vote at one point but that was it. Also, CBBC showed the season before it was shown in Canada so I doubt they would be celebrating 200 episodes there when they were on on 194 or something.
What’s your opinion on season 7? I think it’s been a very poor season personally.
