Anyway, a great first show with a couple of acts already out arguably worthy of a place in the final - although I wouldn't say Natalie was one of them - I thought she was awful.
As for Susan Boyle - terrible start to her song, but she rescued it in the end. It's all gone to her head though - her attitude is just cringe worthy now, and not the quiet unassuming woman we saw during the auditions.
So glad Diversity made it though (heck, I even voted!). Looks like Flawless will be closing the show tonight from the previews yesterday, so obviously they're the act the producers want straight through as in every single semi-final over previous series the act performing last gets straight into the final.
To go back to what Simon Cowell said to Shaheen Jafargholi: The choice of song can and really does make a difference to how you come across. After Shaheen managed to effectively murder 'Valerie' during his audition, the follow-up with 'Who's Lovin' You' was done brilliantly by him. If he'd continued with 'Valerie' he would probably not have made the semi-final.
Likewise if Natalie had belted out 'Superstar' at the audition in the same fashion as she did during the semi-final, a performance that was ultimately ruined by the wrong choice of song, I doubt she'd be in the semis either. That being said, I'll be surprised if she's not signed up by a record company because Natalie is good, given the right song.
With regard to the rest of the acts: I really wanted Diversity to go through, as I really loved the act. The violinist was a carbon copy of Vanessa Mae, to all intents and purposes. Darth Jackson had potential from the audition but it was ruined on the night by was a crap act. The "belly dancer" was nice to look at, but that was all. Something would be major wrong somewhere if Nick Hell ever won a show like this because I can't see Her Majesty wanting to watch somebody do painful things to themselves with pickaxes and a chainsaw. Faces of Disco was a great act, though I think it has limited appeal and scope for advancement. Susan Boyle has done in 72 hours what many celebrities take years to do - crack America.
