Just watching the Britain's Got Talent live semi-final on ITV1 and it looks like poor old Susan Boyle is struggling at the opening to "Memory". Maybe it's a bit too low for her? But at the end she's done it really well. Well done, Ms Boyle!
And
that
Opera Winfrey makeover has done her the world of good!
Cowell is always saying he want's xFactor on a bigger stage, why he dosent use that one is beyond me.
The use Fountain for the X Factor too don't they?
Yes, but X Factor don't use the space half as well as BGT. Got Talent looks like it's filmed in a studio twice the size of X Factor, and then they make it even bigger with More Talent upstairs.
It all just feels a lot less cramped than X Factor. Maybe the lighting plays a part too?
AIUI TLS Studio 1 is around 8,350 square feet, whereas Fountain Studios A & B at Wembley can operate as a single space of around 13,000 square feet? (Fountain has two studio separated by a large full-width door that can be opened to allow them to operate together as a single space. A very clever bit of planning by the original Associated Redifusion (?) team who built it.)
(For comparison - TC1 at TVC is around 10,250 square feet - though it's the only one currently full equipped for HD AIUI - though Fountain and TLS will be fully upgraded soon. BBC Pacific Quay studio A - also fully HD - is just a teeny bit bigger than TLS Studio 1 I believe - though I think TLS 1 has better audience facilities?)
