So now BGT is over will it be a whole years before anyone watches ITV1 again?

The X Factor?

Won't hit the heights of BGT but it should still do relatively well.

Does anyone think the X Factor could run out of steam soon? I know it gets good ratings and I love the X Factor (I much prefer it to BGT and its prob my fave show after Corrie) however it will be in its 6th year now and there are only so many people you can find for this type of show. Pop Idol only had 2 seasons in the UK.

I think most people watch it for the stories and judges now anyway. Maybe I'm wrong?

I only watch it for the auditions and that's it. And "drama" stories behind the scenes, where available.

X-Factor is far better than Britain's Got Talent in my opinion...it just feels more polished in it's presentation and more fun to watch. Only my opinion of course though.

I'd agree to an extent, but I prefer Ant & Dec to Dermot O'Leary anyday.

I would disagree - much prefer Britain's Got Talent on all counts really. I find with The X Factor I can't watch it until after the audition stage - once you've seen and heard one awful singer, you've heard them all really.

That said I think it's got at least a couple of years in it left, though another shake up of the categories would be good - perhaps somehow each judge having one act from each category or something.

Back to BGT, and I hope it remains pretty much in it's current format next year, with the live shows across one week. It makes it much more of an event and I think if it became a weekly show there is a danger we'd tire of it by the end. Only change I'd like to see is a day off between the last semi-final and the final in order to give the final winners of the week more time to prepare.

Plus they wouldn't be expecting to do a pre-record with a fast turn around so wouldn't be set up in terms of facilities to do one.

I'd agree it would be impractical, but would they not have those facilities for playing back the clip of each act during the sequence as the phone lines open, and also for Britain's Got More Talent (the ITV2 show) which I imagine comes from the same gallery?

I doubt the ITV2 show comes from the same gallery - I'd expect it to come from the other gallery. As BGT uses both studio A and studio B together at Fountain, they presumably have two galleries available - allowing the ITV1 and ITV2 shows to be separate, and different crew to be across both shows, with some possible camera sharing in the main studio. (You just flip the talkback feeds between the two galleries.)

Indeed - there are two separate galleries which are used for ITV1 and ITV2 shows. There are separate crews however, and separate talkback channels.

I totally agree. I love the Boot Camp and live shows, the auditions are ok but get a bit boring after 3 weeks. And I love Dermot as presenter. I also think they have got a great line up on the panel now Cheryl Cole is there.

I think the auditions go on for too long, but it's a well put together show. I think the same of BGT though. People pour scorn on these kind of shows but they do have high production values and it shows.

I don't know how much longer The X Factor has. Cheryl Cole seemed to rejuvenate the series last year and it had its best ever ratings - it's not a programme that is showing any signs of declining just yet. It's often been considered the bigger show but BGT has arguably put it in the shade with the ratings exceeding all expectations this past week.

Well I wanted Flawless to win. Susan Boyle's chances were diminished as soon as she already became a big hit on YouTube and in the states.. a mix of the fact: some people were already bored of her, some people thought others would vote and she would win anyway and some people thought she was overrated.

As for Hollie's outburst.. well, did she actually forget her words? I'm not so sure and I have to agree there is something very spoilt about her. Mad

Alas, Diversity won and I'm happy with the result.

X Factor is too predictable in many forms. Auditions start with a bad one, then a few snippets of bad ones, then can this next act save the day, they do, some good snippets etc... eventually a horribly dragged out final with some arsehole who ruins the Christmas Number 1 spot.

Why, when BGT gets such higher ratings, do they rush the semi-finals with just one week rather than have them weekly? Not that I'm complaining, I'm just sick of TXF dragging...

Ooh, 3rd place was close! Bad luck Stavros Flatley.
Surprised Flawless and Shaun Smith of all people ended up so far down the pecking order though considering Flawless was the judges favourite to win. Aidan can be proud though as he achieved the highest percentage of the solo child acts on the night but I reckon he'll be back next year. Diversity though with effectively a quarter of the vote is nothing to be sniffed at.

I doubt it'd be getting those ratings if it was on weekly. Having it stripped helps build momentum, and it'd be hard to sustain that buzz across six weeks than it across one.
