Am I the only one who just doesn't get the whole hype over Susan Boyle? She just seems an average, if that, singer?!

Ugly people cannot sing.

Why not go to LWT studio 1!

I've always found Fountain a far more impressive studio than LWT for all sorts of reasons.

I think almost every show I've seen in LWT Studio 1 has pretty much the same layout, only with different sets. They don't even bother to cover up the familiar top of stairs bit that Ant & Dec use for their Takeaway.

For the average viewer would they really know X Factor and BGT came from exactly the same studio?

I'll lose faith in the show if Jamie Pugh doesn't get to the finals. End of.

I don't get all the Boyle hype either. If anything I think it's extremely patronising.

She's just an average singer who just happened to look a bit rough... Nice lady but I don't get the speciality.

Yes, but X Factor don't use the space half as well as BGT. Got Talent looks like it's filmed in a studio twice the size of X Factor, and then they make it even bigger with More Talent upstairs.

It all just feels a lot less cramped than X Factor. Maybe the lighting plays a part too?

But it looks more spacious for a reason. BGT needs a larger performance area for all the dancers, acrobats, magicains and group acts, whereas TXF only needs a smaller stage as most of the time it's just one singer (who remember is always there last chance at making it....) standing there, singing.

Studio 1 at LWT would be no where big enough (they would have to remove the lower tier of seating to get the stage and camera run in - and the raised judges table. Studio 1 at TVC may just be big enough, if the stage ran length ways (so the dock doors were to the left of the set).
The only other option left is the sound stages at Pinewood or Shepperton. At Pinewood, TV1 and TV2 are mid sized studios, although the makers of Beat The Star seem to have found a chucky studio to make series 2 in (can TV1 and TV2 be joined together like Fountains studios can?) .
That leaves Shepperton. Only problem there is there are no tech facilities on site (in terms of kit and control galleries) so everything would have to be done via an OB truck parked out the back - leading to more expence.

I never said she couldn't, I'm saying I don't see whats so special, especially with the overblown media coverage.

Apart from the reasons given that it's too small, why should they... it's not an ITV production

And that's been the case for years, when I see Ant and Dec coming down the stairs it looks almost exactly like when Beadle, Kennedy and the 2 Kellys did the same thing almost 30 years ago!

The audience laughter is very recognisable from TLS Studio 1 too, I can always tell when a programme is from there just because of the laughter, it's slightly distorted

Why can't Peter Dickson just talk properly like he used too - not liking his over the top intros at all, though at least it's not as bad as The X Factor.

Anyway, a great first show with a couple of acts already out arguably worthy of a place in the final - although I wouldn't say Natalie was one of them - I thought she was awful.

As for Susan Boyle - terrible start to her song, but she rescued it in the end. It's all gone to her head though - her attitude is just cringe worthy now, and not the quiet unassuming woman we saw during the auditions.

So glad Diversity made it though (heck, I even voted!). Looks like Flawless will be closing the show tonight from the previews yesterday, so obviously they're the act the producers want straight through as in every single semi-final over previous series the act performing last gets straight into the final.
