Thought I saw that. Also, it might just be the recording setups but why does the NI version look to have a blue tinge while England uses the original Viridian colour?
That's merely a result of different capture devices. Andrew's recorder's quality and tint are different to those of the iPlayer feed.
^ I don't think that's bad, it's characterful... charming even, to some extent; it's just that, again, it should be a short sting rather than an ident. It doesn't work with the announcer.
But, ugh, is it
really
now acceptable to just rebadge 24 year old idents and play them out in the wrong aspect ratio? Can anyone at Red Bee seriously not see how bad that looks, why is it not provoking an immediate red flag? It's 2015. BBC Two HD is a thing.
And a 16:9 version exists.
The much smaller 50th Anniversary box wasn't too bad and these classic idents looked at least ten times better with that then they do with the current box. Perhaps they should've just used that but without it animating to show the '50 Years' part.
Even better, just stick 'BBC Two' horizontally along the centre like they did back in the day. It really was one of those things that was so simple, you couldn't really go wrong with it.
By the way, fantastic to see Silk again, although gutted I missed that junction first hand. Looks like it was a very deliberate long playout for pres fans too.! Silk's one of the best ones and possibly
the
best in terms of audio. A much more appropriate introduction to Newsnight also. Hopefully, I'll catch it myself at some point.
It may be worth noting that the very start of Network's version of Silk seems to have been trimmed slightly, as anyone familiar with the soundtrack will notice that there is one fewer of the regular quiet two-note musical chimes at the start, before you hear the first of the louder bell chimes.
Yes, the first bar of four appears to be missing and so the bell comes in unexpectedly early. I'm not sure whether they've deliberately edited it or rather the ident was run a few seconds before it went on air. If it's a deliberate edit, I don't get it.

It plays out like this every time on Network. It doesn't sound natural when you're used to the way it should sound.
Network have made a mess of these gems of presentation. The oversized boxed logo is hideous with these idents and simply does not work, and with Silk there is also the stretched visuals and this issue with the soundtrack.
It's lovely to see this ident again, especially as the ident soundtracks underneath the CAs are louder nowadays so you get to
vaguely
hear more of the piece now than back in the day.
