Victoria said at the end of todays program, that tomorrows show will be a "politics free zone". Highly doubt that.

Remember there are LOTS of restrictions for broadcasters while the polls are open, hence normally the only mention on the news channels are "Millions of Brits are voting".

Basically the broadcasters can't mention the parties as it could affect the way one votes. I remember during the referendum last year STV accidentally repeated their previous nights' politics programme on the day and reported themselves to Ofcom. I presume BBC Parliaments schedule will be fun filled.

Highlights of House of Lords debates until 2155, then a simulcast of BBC Scotland.

They really could have done with baby Charlotte hanging on until election day.

Difficult to fill though especially with "lovely films" as you can see a political angle in pretty much anything.

Surely showing debates is potentially influencing votes.

I really don't understand how it's ok on any day apart from the last one.

Surely the whole point of campaigning is to influence votes? That's a really stupid rule.

How can you "accidentally" repeat a programme?

The BBC's own editorial guidelines best describes the situation on polling day:

"On polling day the BBC, in common with other broadcasters, will cease to report campaigns from 06.00 until the polls close. Coverage will be restricted to uncontroversial factual accounts, such as the appearance of politicians at polling stations or the weather. Subjects which have been at issue or part of the campaign, or other controversial matters relating to the election, must not receive coverage on polling day, to ensure that nothing in the BBC's output can be construed as influencing the ballot while the polls are open."

I think that was STV Glasgow, so presumably the same way other local TV outfits have accidentally shown post watershed material at inappropriate times.

By having a schedule that runs regularly (possibly automatically or possibly CTRL+C, CTRL+V) and not having humans to spot potential problems caused by a change in status of the day... I guess there was a regular repeat slot for that show, and they didn't spot that this was inappropriate and potentially in breach of legislation on polling day.

Accident? Or poor management? Almost certainly unintentional.

Very much expect it will be. Apart from covering politicians and the public casting their votes, and preparations for counting them, and reporting the results, the broadcasters can't really do much else. They aren't allowed to broadcast any material that could conceivably skew the result.

Prime example would be if a broadcaster was compiling an Exit poll, and broadcast a half-time result...

Getting good use out of that bubble studio that they've built no doubt.
