What a wonderful opening shot on Sky News at two just there. The jib camera shot for the voiceover zoomed into Kay Burley with a newswall background and was used as the opening camera. Was just like the old Afternoon Live opening shots but at the desk. Was truly a magnificent opening. If anyone captured it its worth showing.

Yes It's been a pleasure to watch that indeed! But since yesterday evening the live sign and the swoosh transition between top stories and voiceover (if you know what I mean) don't contain of sound anymore. Does anyone believe this is a permanent change?

Yeah noticed that alright, it doesn't have the same affect without the swoosh noise. Hopefully not but if such opening shots are being used I'll be a happy viewer! Laughing

Shame to see the search for the next England manager as the top story tonight, particularly considering the amount of real news about. Stuart Ramsay's superb reports from Syria should be the leading item.

He has returned to Lebanon tonight and has been tweeting some pretty eye-opening stuff from his time across the border in Syria,

Looking forward to Alex Crawford's reporting in the coming days.

Those news topics about Syria are not of relevance here! We are discussing presentation matters and it seems that skynews made again a sad move by axing those nice sounds.

Last time it happened it was a technical fault. Sure they'll be back. Don't fret.

The editorial decisions made by Sky News, and the way they cover the news are still a topic of discussion for this forum!

Quite frankly, I've never heard something so ridiculous. I value discussion of editorial decisions about content far above talk about the live sting losing its sound.

Seems to be a very long technical fault.

Sky News removed a swishy noise from a live bug. Big deal. It's a tiny part of a graphic that still looks very nice and without the sound effect, makes it seem much less Fox News. Which really, is what Sky have spent the past year of tweaks and scheduling changes trying to do - less spectacular, more news.
