Oh SkyNews.... im so sad to see how far creatively the channel has fallen. The journalism is still tops. But creatively their innovative presentation spark is completely gone. Snuffed out. Plainly spoken this studio is boring. There is nothing interesting about it. The desk is slightly interesting, but the horrific "BLAST" lighting makes everything look flat. All of their current studios IMO have terrible stadium-like lighting. There is barely any texture lighting to add depth. Its so bright, it washes everything out and is harsh on the eyes to watch. Couple that with the bright stark white graphics and the drab music bed.....sigh.

They tried to warm things up with the "wood" panel across the floor. But frankly unless Comcast steps in to shake things up (highly unlikely) (And no i dont mean make it flashy) the channel seems to be comfortable with resigning its self to a creative graveyard squarely behind the BBC.

I get the use of the screens. It gives endless uses, but geez could have have picked IMO a more oddly strange angle of the Palace of Westminster. If feels like the studio is filled with mist or fog. It gives me a headache watching it. Why not give Kay a podium or something? And the silver mullion between the screens really? I guess like many of you its kinda frustrating to expect something and get this instead. Oh well...

All Out Politics certainly looks better than Burley, but that's perhaps only because the desk hides a lot of the studio.

It would look a lot more effective if they'd gone for a seamless LED (like BBC), but as it is and with the lighting so poor, it looks like three old projector screens. Unlike the Beeb's, your eye can never be tricked into thinking that's an actual window.

The other problem is the complete absence of any elements to give it depth, character, warmth or distinctiveness.

It could be a rented, temporary studio it's so empty and anonymous looking.

I think it's something that a regional ITV/BBC station could feel happy in, but not a major broadcaster. There are low/mid-market affiliates in the US that throw together studios with more personality.

A shame, because it'll be stuck like that for a decade now.

The blue led panels on Tonight look much better.

Compare the Sky (and BBC) studios to the excellent CNN London studio.

It looks much more interesting, eye-catching - and it is lit better!

Still not in love with the screens but Tonight looks good... it has some depth and colour to it.

Maybe they should've promoted that instead of Burley. (Though I appreciate it's only us presention-obsessives/weirdos who would tune in for the studio...)

Tonight certainly looks the best out of all the shows today from Millbank.

I can see what they're trying to do with the Kay Burley format, by bringing back many of the stand up elements she did on her afternoon shows, although a small coffee table would help for the half-cut sofa studio interview segment.

The Tonight set is pretty good, the rest are dreadful mind.

If only Sky had a studio that made the use of blue and red it would be really nice....oh hang on...

I suppose being deskless for Burley literally means her guests will have 'nowhere to hide"!

It does look a lot better in Tonight mode, the more animated title card works well on the front of the desk.

At least the desk hides the unfinished floor.

Did Adam have a different desk or can it be set up differently?

He had a massive screen sticking up on his, whereas Dermot has one inside the desk which looks smaller?

well it did have an extra 'sideboard' during AOP, as seen in pictures above.
