I think the confusion about Alastair Stewart might be to do with News at Ten.

I understand ITN is producing separate bulletins on referendum night - one for STV, the other for the rest of the network. I'm assuming Alastair is presenting the Scottish version, as Mark and Julie are down to front the ITV version.

Don't quote me on that though ...

ITV
2200 - 2240: ITV News at Ten & Weather
Mark Austin and Julie Etchingham with the latest headlines from around the world. Followed by a national weather forecast and all the news and weather in your region
2240 - 0600: Scotland Decides
Alastair Stewart presents live coverage of the Scottish referendum result. Has Scotland broken away from the UK, ending 300 years of union? We have full, detailed coverage of the result from the crucial counts and expert analysis from our political, business and economics editors Tom Bradby, Joel Hills and Richard Edgar, who will discuss what this means for the whole of the UK.

STV:
2200 - 2240: STV News at Ten
An STV News special presented live from Edinburgh by John MacKay. All the news from across the country on Scotland's historic Referendum vote. Coverage also includes UK and international news.
2240 - 0600: Scotland Decides
Bernard Ponsonby and Aasmah Mir present live coverage of the Independence Referendum. STV's news teams report live from all 32 declarations across Scotland as they happen through the night. A panel of leading politicians and analysts are on hand to comment and extensive online coverage is available on stv.tv.

STV are doing the whole coverage, ITV are certainly not doing a separate programme...It doesn't make any sense at all...

Please tell me your "confirmation" comes from a better source than somebodies twitter bio...

It makes perfect sense. It would be stupid to try and fit the same coverage in for the two completely different markets.

All the evidence points to ITV doing a separate programme to what is being shown on STV.

I can confirm my information comes a reliable source who is well established within STV. I am certainly not revealing the source...

Well Mr Stewart has tweeted confirming the ITV Network will show STV's coverage for the referendum result from 22:40 until 06:00. He should know as he was cited as hosting ITV's coverage. ITV News will pick up the coverage the following day.

The STV press release also said ITV Border will carry the STV News at Ten prior to the overnight coverage.

I agree this looks pretty bad, but various listings (including those on the ITV website) are usually set several weeks in advance, and I get the distinct impression discussions between ITV & STV and ITV & ITN have been on-going over the last few days to finalise arrangements for coverage outside of Scotland ...

You would think there would leave the Guide blank until everything was sorted. This is was STV did until today.
