I'm not sure it's a "BBC Scotland" package of graphics, it's simply the BBC's logo for the event. I've seen it used on the News channel on the studio screens before.

BBC Scotland seems to be lacking in branding for this, Sky news I notice only used its branding again today first ( I believe ) in a week

First Minister Alex Salmond will go head-to-head with Better Together leader Alistair Darling in a live TV debate, it has been confirmed.

The STV programme is expected to be broadcast after the Commonwealth Games.

Better Together director Blair McDougall said it was a welcome development.

Mr Salmond has repeatedly challenged Prime Minister David Cameron to debate him over independence and said he would continue to do so.

The debate programme will be broadcast live from Edinburgh.

It will be hosted by STV's political editor Bernard Ponsonby, and attended by 500 members of the public representing both sides of the debate as well as undecided voters.

The debate will be split into three sections:

Mr Darling and Mr Salmond will answer questions from the host
Mr Salmond and Mr Darling will then cross-examine each other's arguments
Finally, members of the audience be able to ask their questions
A spokesman for the first minister said he would continue to urge Mr Cameron to debate with him.

Mr Cameron has previously said the debate should be "between people in Scotland".

I'm guessing this will only be shown on STV and not ITV for Scots Border viewers? However, I do hope BBC or Sky News do some head to head as well - not sure one would cover the main issues?

I recall that a debate involving Scottish politicians was shown in the run-up to the 2010 UK general election on STV and ITV Border in April 2010.

Furthermore, a Scotland debate was shown at peak time on STV on 29 March 2011 but ITV Border showed a recording of it at 11:45 p.m. because an England football match was being shown on ITV.
