I'm confused - so the BBC now have a contract with Meteogroup, yet still use Met Office weather warnings? It doesn't make sense to me.
It's all a mess, on the BBC Weather phone app you actually end up with conflicting information.
My area is showing light snow/rain on Thursday, yet click on Met Office warnings tab and apparently the end of civilisation is coming.
Anyway, well done BBC News, on the 10pm news last night, there was Danny Savage showing us what a gritting lorry looks like, I've always wondered
I've noticed the Midlands weather hub uses the corporate opening slide (BBC Weather plus presenter name) but also add In association with MeteoGroup. Does anywhere else use this?
I realise snow is difficult to forecast but the adverse weather has demonstrated a big difference in forecasting particularly on the apps.
Meteo always seem to go with worst case scenario, whereas Met Office is usually more measured & accurate.
I find the BBC Weather app to be much less reliable as a consequence.
For me, MeteoGroup went with best case scenario, no snow. Meanwhile, the Met Office warned of heavy snow at times. Whilst both proved to be incorrect, at least the Met Office warned of some snow (admittedly, nowhere near as much as is now outside my window, but at least some was forecast), so thankfully, when I woke up to a whiteout and a school closed e-mail, I wasn't as surprised.
