It will be recorded according to EBU news wires

As cowardly as we’d expect. You’d think our PM would take questions from media.

This is a statement, not a press conference.

I’m guessing he will be reinforcing the current situation one last time, directly to the nation, in peak time, to stop all those silly scenes we’ve seen over the weekend, rather than it being something new.

It needs to have something new so that people talk about it. Otherwise it'll have the "nothing has changed" effect.

The EPGs have updated now, news specials 8:30-9:00

Panorama moved to 7:30, Inside Out dropped, 2nd Corrie also dropped, which I’m sure they’ll be glad of.
They won't be glad of it. They could've dropped the second episode with immediate effect, like how EastEnders didn't air on Thursday and Friday last week, instead of waiting until next week to replace programmes. They chose not to, so they clearly don't want to take it off. I'd expect the rest of the schedule to just run later than advertised.

Tonight's message is being billed by the BBC as a Ministerial Broadcast - it appears to be the first of those since 2003. See this thread from last year for other previous ones.

ITV only showing it scheduled for 3 minutes from 8.29pm to 8.32pm.

Surely it will be more than a mere 3 minutes?

It it to the point to get the message across - something an hour long press conference hasn't been doing.

ITV seems to be ahead of all other broadcasters

Edit: I dont think Channel 5 finished it, and cut it off

(Channel 5's news quota for the year exceeded Very Happy )

As suspected, Boris’ speech is bollocking the nation to stay at home

Channel 5 were the last to start showing it, as I was flicking around because I missed the start

I always wondered how does this work with some of these broadcasts. We discussed it with the annual Christmas message. Perhaps ITV recorded the message and is playing it out live?
