What does the RedBee pres suite for World actually do? I had assumed that they play out the back half hour recorded programmes, but seeing the ticker suggests it's actually coming from a news gallery at BH.

Or does the pres output come back to BH for the ticker to be added downstream?

In the gallery for Studio B there is a computer with a sticker saying 'this is the live BBC World News ticker text producer - do not touch' or something along those lines so I assume it is produced at NBH.

Presumably the data for the ticker is generated at BH but can be overlaid in the playout suite or the studio. It shouldn't be difficult to have a pc at Red Bee that syncs up with the one in BH.

As for what World's playout does, it plays out all the programmes and interstituals. They also play out adverts, definitely for Europe but maybe another region too. There are times when a bulletin continues for some parts of the world and others get a break. This happens overnight of course where domestic viewers don't get breaks

Do they separate the programming at Red Bee , for example overnight when Asia Business Report isn't taken in North America?

BBC World News with Alice Baxter. 18:15 ad break/opt away in my region just now with an erroneous Newsday slide. The intro back in 1 minute later had the correct World News slide.

I'm not sure. In the early days of World all the opt outs, including Europe were done locally. All that came out of TV Centre was an (advert free) international version. The Asian stuff day a good example, it wasn't even seen in London. They started doing the European one in the early 2000`s, which was a little tricky to bolt on as I remember.

I'm not sure where the regional versions come from now, the technology to run several versions from London is easier than it was but if the US cover their own programming I don't know. Although there has always been a separate distribution from London of World for the Americas, as of course they're 525/60. Maybe that is used

It could have been slight tweaks to the set to hide joints etc, as well as an upgrade to the cameras and cabling?

Shame they couldn't have just got a new desk similar to NBH. That desk is the design of the sets introduced 2003/4.

Yes, and they added grey side panels to it, so it looked a little like the 2008/13 era of desks.
