Very odd considering Joanna Gosling seemed pretty clueless that had happened. I assume the gallery must have been too as it went on for a long time.

At 1245/1250 The signing studio is usually switched via the Network Switcher into the Channel distribution circuit.
So that the gallery are not distracted by the signer, the gallery monitoring is switched to a different signer-less feed - the clean BBC1 circuit.
I would have thought that signing had probably picked up the wrong feed, which resulted in a vision and sound feedback.
This would not have been immediately noticeable in the gallery, and certainly would not have be noticeable by the presenter.
As a result the channel was signer-less for the duration of the One.

On this weeks Newswatch a complaint that in switching between studio A and studio E on Monday before the Ten meant then weather was suddenly mid flow replaced by a static shot of studio E. Considering they must have switched between the studios around a 1000 times (at 5, 6, 9 & 10 each weekday) it seemed a tad harsh to include the complaint when it has probably worked faultless nearly if not every other time.

It isn't the first time that the BBC News Channel has cut to studio E during part of the BBC News at Nine the fact that it lasted four minutes is probably the main reason for complaint.
