How long before the News Channel and network bulletins start quoting the website address as bbc.com/news on the astons and ticket etc? With simulcasts like Outside Source using that address they might as well start using it domestically in the interests of consistency?

It would make sense.

Do they say bbc.co.uk/news on the news channel UK?

It just re-re-directs to .com

Off work at the minute so I'm able to watch the Victoria Derbyshire programme for the first time really. The only redeeming feature I can see so far is Ben Thompson's biceps!

I can't stand the casual wear on the journalists who go on VD. An hour later Ben is suited and booted back on the NC catwalk.

That does seem a bit odd. Is it just Ben that goes casual or all correspondents? I seem to remember one day after Ben went casual a couple of BBC producers circulated/joked around an image of his wardrobe.

I have noticed that on Business Live they celebrate casual Friday by ditching the ties. Aaron would wear ties for everything up until that bulletin and afterwards he was wearing his tie again. I wondered what makes Business Live so special that they can ditch the ties for that show but have to throw them on for the next broadcast.

That's right. bbc.com/news redirects to the .co.uk here. I suspect it's historical as the BBC didn't own bbc.com until 1999 - Boston Business Computing owned that domain.

I think BBC.com/news sounds a lot better and is a lot easier to say than BBC.co.uk/news. But to be honest why don't they just say BBCNews.com? It redirects to co.uk

It's a relatively common practice in the business world, at least in the UK - I don't see that much wrong with a business show reflecting that. However it could be perhaps seen as inappropriate or disrespectful to remove the tie during a news bulletin where the preceding/following stories are more serious.

If Gavin Esler is doing the Saturday morning shift he ditches the tie for Dateline London then puts it back on to do the rolling news.

The 9am bulletin came from what looks like Studio A this morning, no newsroom view on the TOTH and a static shot of the presenter only. Problems in Studio E or a cost cutting measure for this short bulletin only I wonder?

bbc.com sounds wrong to me after hearing bbc.co.uk for so long.

Can't remember who it was, but I heard someone on the News Channel at the weekend giving the web address the full "double-u, double-u, double-u, dot" treatment at the weekend. Sounded clunky.

Don't we already have "tiegate" from that infamous evening where all the presenters wore black ties, but nothing happened?
