Seems to be a bit of a running joke how often that happens now.

Yeah, but it's more sort of sad-funny than haha-funny now.

I really have to ask why they still manage to cock it up when they've been in use for so many years...?

The system involves humans entering information. Humans are infallible and make mistakes occasionally - I assume you do.

Yes, but as Ant and davidhorman points out, it's becoming more common than it should be.

Like a rota thread where the normal presenter is on, I don't notice them as much now as they're so common.

Appositely demonstrated!

On a side note Reeta handled that really well. If it was not for the fact you could see what was going on you would not realise how well she goes from auto to script to auto and keeping professionalism all the way through.

In the past there were checks and double checks to makes sure mistakes were caught before they made air.

With the cuts the checking has gone so a mistake makes it easily to air.

Maybe it's just my luck, but I'd say the number of camera mistakes are going down, from what I've seen.

Of course, a lot of the old technical problems disappeared with the move - no more blank tickers, or having it disappear and reappear 15 times to get it working, or the myriad glitches that would appear every so often.

Very rare for it to happen on BBC1 though. I thought they had more manual intervention rather than it all being automated or is that just on the six/ten?

The Six and Ten have rehearsal time, where I imagine the director will run through what has been programmed. At the weekend they don't have that luxury.

Indeed I don't think these problems occur that frequently. Unfortunately two happened yesterday during network bulletins but in both cases the presenters dealt with it calmly and professional and quite possibly the average viewer will have barely noticed.
