Quite a few times at work today, whenever I looked up at the tv screen, BBC News were showing Meet the Author. It seemed to air in the last 15 minutes of the hour. Is this a new policy? Seems a bit strange if it is.
They trailed it before the biz bulletin during the heads. then a segway into Meet the Author after it.
Now that the Millbank studio is back up and running, I guess it's safe(r) to ask the question - where would BBC News have gone if they couldn't broadcast from NBH (for reasons unspecified) while Millbank was unavailable? If insiders don't feel able to comment I won't take offence, I fully understand if it's still sensitive.

They were special programmes with the winners of the The Costa Book of the Year Awards.
AIUI there are some 'Multi-Purpose Areas' in NBH used as studios for World News/NC programmes (such as Meet the Author) and for those other part-time World Service channels: but I thought they were relatively small isolated areas.
However, during the
Democracy Day
strand on the NC/Parliament this week, they used this area which looks quite large.
I can understand small isolated areas to perform these separate functions: but surely having two so close together means you can't use them both at the same time on a regular basis?
Do BBC One still have one minute news summaries? I don't live in the UK so I can't check, but I can't find anything on Youtube.
The summaries at 11 and 12:15 were axed before the move to NBH, but they still have the summary at 19:58 with 60 seconds of national news at 30 seconds of local news and weather.

I believe that is the main MPA (Studio L) which is usually used by the BBC World Service for its programming. There is another smaller set up, which I believe is in the Business department, used for Meet the Author called Studio K.
Some sort of time mixup on BBC1 joining the news Channel at 1005pm tonight .
After showing a few trailers at 1005pm Nicholas Owen introduced the main story about the Scottish nurse who had Ebola and they started playing a clip of the interview .
I switched over to BBC1 to watch the bulletin without the news strap and they were still showing a trailer so quickly switched back to the news channel to see how they would deal with this situation
Their solution appeared to be to hold on a shot of Nicholas Owen after a clip of the interview finished ( he did appear to be momentarily distracted which I presume was the director telling him to go again with the main story )
