I agree with Justin, the animations are 5/5, but how will these work in trailers, end boards, etc? Do the logos remain in black and white all the time?

If you'd actually read the thread and Martin's responses instead of briefly scanning it so you can wax lyrical to seem like you care about others' work, you'd know the answer to that question.

It's completely up to Martin when (or even IF) he does more than the logos and animations; no one on this forum should be pestered into creating more than they are ready to make, nor do they deserve the inference their mocks are incomplete or inadequate for not containing elements of pres other users might personally want to see.

I'd welcome seeing these in other forms but it's Martin's call and if he doesn't, as they stand I think these are great in their own right.

I was not pestering mdtauk, I was commenting that his work so far is excellent, and I would like to see how he would incorporate his designs into other forms, such as trailers and end boards.

I completely agree that it is the mdtauk's call, and these are great in their own right. I wasn't demanding anything, I was simply commenting my personal preference as to how mdtauk should carry his project forward (if he so wishes).

Again if you'd read the thread (or computed it) you would have seen mdta respond to Justin's (first of now two) pestering messages to produce more work on these.

mdta said:

The logos are as far as I have gotten in terms of this current restart of the project. Happy to entertain ideas and comments. I am feeling this out in small steps.

You'd also have read mdta's comments about the logos being colourless. But you didn't. Does not compute.

You see Aaron?

Posts like "5/5 great work BUT how will these work? Hurry along now and stop procrastinating, do some endboards and idents" are nagging at best. You posted similar crap in my ITV News thread, initially just logos:

Whilst it may only be 'first ideas', that doesn't justify presenting a few logos. So far, that's your mock. A number of logos.

How can this project be anything more than 1/5 with what you have presented so far?

Hardly constructive. Hardly endearing. Then you proceeded to copy my mock. Audacity in spades.

Feel free to get the last word in on this like any self-respecting year 11 boy, as I won't pollute this thread further. Or send me another PM for me to ignore where you call me petulant. Smile

The fact is, when you're not arguing with other people about your inability to take responsibility for your mediocrity, you're offering empty substance-less half-praises and gnashing for more. "That's great 6/5 nuff said but what about designing this and that and this now..."

Why don't you offer Martin some ideas for these idents, end boards? Or indeed ANYTHING in the way of targeted feedback for what he's done? Anything specific? Practically every other contributor in this thread has given specific feedback which is what any designer truly wants.

Yawn.

..

I wanted to get the Logos to a state where people are happy with them, and then figure out how they should animate on screen.

Once that is done, I can think about the rest of the graphics. I jumped in fast before and did videos and trailers, but it wasn't the best work, so 2 years on, I want to get it right before going in on the full video production.

I am figuring this out as I go along, and welcome anyone submitting ideas and suggestions for Trailer Endboards, Promotions, Idents etc!

You've done a great job with these. You're free to work at your own pace and shouldn't have to explain yourself.

I've loved the slow evolution of these and am in no rush to see end boards, promos or such like until you are ready, if indeed you are at all. You've taken the approach of a true designer, and I admire you for your approach.

Probably best viewed on a Desktop PC. Here are two BBC One logos. One slower than the other.

Would like to know which you think is the right speed

The one on the left for me, it's punchier. The one on the right it a little too slow to form I think. It's close though.

Loving these animations - I could really see them used on television.

As for the speed, I was more than happy seeing them at their previous quicker speed, but, now I've had the chance to view 'normal' and 'slower' speeds, I think I prefer the 'slower' version. It allows you to take in the animation more, and with the amount of effort you've put in, particularly with regards to the detail in News / Politics ones, I think, for me, the slower of the two above is the way to go. I imagine you'll split people down the middle with this - honestly, the animations are so well-done, either speed looks great to me.

Either way, faster or slower, one of my favourite mocks on here in a few years now, and I look forward to seeing how you decide to progress with this.

I made a quick alteration to a previous BBC World News graphic, to see how I could integrate the new logo. Definitely not final, but an idea as to how they could tweak existing graphics...

EDIT: Actually, with a bit more work on it, I think this is a better tweak, for the new logo

I think the second World News title card is better than the first, the first appears too dark. The addition of the white is also good in the second one.

The world news title is a delight, but I could see both being used - perhaps the first could be for late night bulletins? As for BBC One, I prefer the left.

I am going to design a few layouts, for the logo, and titles etc. These will just be ideas to try to get some feedback.

Love all of this so far! Have enjoyed seeing the ideas evolve. Have been trying to come up with similar ideas myself but feel like the BBC logo & the last ten years of mixed branding makes it difficult to come up with anything 'different' for the beeb.

Keep up the good work!

What font is that for the times on World News? Please don't let it be Gotham. I'm sick of seeing it everywhere. No more Gotham!

Geometria - but I haven't settled on the fonts yet

Ah, OK. The '3' looks like it was from Gotham and I shuddered a bit. You can't escape it these days!
