I love everything about this rebrand. It's colourful, modern and doesn't look too young or old. I don't mind the BBC logo being top left either. Rule book? Rule book? Let them burn the flipping rule book and try something different. Good on the Beeb I say!

There's a difference between burning the rule book and producing something which is badly designed.

Badly designed? Your opinion. It was obviously done by a designer and they didn't think so Very Happy

Eurgh! That obnoxious "SEE BEE BEE SEE" is horrendous.

I agree. The idents without them saying what channel it is sound a lot better. It worked for the 2007 idents but that doesn't mean that it has to continue.

I think that late-2006/early-2007 era was a real low-point for CBBC pres and that was about the time that I totally moved away from kids telly.

Oh god yes! Garish then, garish now.

(there was even a green and red CBBC logo designed but never used a few years before the channels came about)
Eh? Didn't know that, got pics?

No, it was never used so never made it out of TVC. If I remember correctly it was ready to go but got delayed, presumably by the impending launch of the seperate channels. Hence the boring yellow branding lasted a lot longer than it probably should have.

Imagine the original CBBC channel logo bbut instead of a triangluar blob, it's a green sphere

Why does there need to be absolute uniformity across every channel? There is enough uniformity in the fact that the unifying logo, the BBC Blocks, appears on all of them. And while I'm not that keen on the new CBBC logo, it will work well on mobile platforms as an app logo - and that's the way a lot of the target audience access the media put out from that part of the BBC. Never did like the bugs on the CBBC Channel (though I think they're excellent on CBeebies).

Disagree strongly. Just look at the BBC One and Two boxes - they don't look right side by side at all.
It's very different and does abandon the rules of uniformity.

Granted it's not perfect but they could be balanced with each other very easily, unlike say BBC One and BBC Two at present. Give the other channels a chance and hopefully they'll join in.

At least they put more effort into the CBBC version than the BBC Three version.

Why have stuck a box around it, terrible.

Because as an app icon it will be in a box anyway. So you make sure it fits the box.

I don't think you design a branding identity primarily around the constraints of an app icon. Surely you start with how it looks on screen, in print and adapt from there for each use.

Besides, CBBC aren't using that design as their app icon.

Unless they're anticipating another online move, dare I say it.

Not necessarily, there's a trend for broadcasters to become like 'apps' to have a presence on Smart TV's etc... As EPG usage has dropped.

Has anyone picked up on the huge "New" DOG they put with Wolfblood last Monday and Tuesday? Can't screen grab sadly but imagine a box the same size as the new DOG, green with a purple New in the centre.
