I do admire SVT. They put on a show in 2013 equally as good as Copenhagen, if not better, for a fraction of the cost.

I suppose Melfest gives them a huge amount of experience to draw on, almost to the point that they can do this blindfold. It's interesting to note that this year Petra has sang a song not far removed from "Swedish Smorgasbord" and in previous years has done a History of Melfest series, complete with the clever CGI we saw in her series in Malmo.

BTW... have commentators been confirmed for the semis? I'm guessing Mel will return, but will she go solo in Stockholm?

I expect in th fullness of time Asa will merge some of the discussion that's been going on at the temporary forum, but the design for this years stage has been revealed. Clever use of LEDs and in my opinion it looks very good indeed:

An update here from Guy Freeman, Head of the UK Delegation on when the UK National Final songs will be premièred:

When will the finalists for the British national final be announced ?
On Monday 22nd February, Ken Bruce will play all six songs on BBC Radio 2 and details of the songs will then appear on the BBC Eurovision website.

Good interview, although a week before the Brit awards are we really saying there's not 6 good enough songs kicking around?

The Brit Awards or the UK Charts has nothing to do with it. It's the interest in the event and improving the standard every year.

Only if the song does well then the artist can think about charts and Brit Awards.

As of the removal (or 'move to online') of BBC Three , the Eurovision semi-finals will be broadcast on BBC Four.

"You Decide also heralds the arrival of our new home for the semi-finals - BBC Four! Broadcasting both semi-finals of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 live from Stockholm on Tuesday 10th and Thursday 12th May"

Yes, we know this! we've known this for a month or so!

The only thing we don't know is who's commentating/presenting the coverage for the semi finals!

Nor do we know the level of additional content that BBC Four will get for the semifinals.

Could it be there will be a return to the days of commentary only, as was the case with the single SF? Personally I wouldn't be surprised either way.

However one main reason for adding additional production was, I believe, to cope with the non-voting semifinal (which has lots of redundant content - like multiple voting reprises - which are of little interest to audiences in a country that can't vote) and in situations where the domestic broadcaster had advert breaks so cared little for the ad break filler content...

In recent years we've had contests from host broadcasters (NRK in 2010, SVT in 2013, DR in 2014) that don't have ad breaks so the filler content has been pretty watchable. Unlike some years where it has often been toe-curling green room action with sub-par presenters.
