The ending of tonights late news.


This was at the end of the countdown at midnight replacing the swooping outside NBH shots

Looks like the work of our own Media Boy - Merry Christmas, Chris!

Yeah, he posted the close shortly after air on Twitter.

The only comment I heard from the family I was about the "sick remix" of the BBC News theme at the end.

the closing shot of the newsroom was played in reverse, you could see one guy walking backwards and paper popping up into his hand from the desk

The ticker could use a temporary "happy mode," or at least disappear for a few seconds...

A live orchestra are playing the countdown every hour according to this tweet...



Indeed the 17.59 countdown did include images of an Orchestra playing but the normal countdown music was played out.

Did anyone record this 'sick remix'?



EDIT: Back to normal countdown at the top of the 7 O'clock Hour.

Not quite the normal music - it was BBC World News' version.

Here it is for those who missed it. It is indeed the World News countdown music used.

Looks like they just used the footage they got back for a report when the music got first used. Everyone's wearing the same!

I think you're right. Look at 0.29 on yesterdays countdown and 1.37 on the report you posted. I think the people on twitter got the wrong idea. That answers why they used the pre-existing countdown music rather than the orchestral mix.
