I think the countdown was late or network was early as the titles came in on the NC when there was still about 5 seconds left.

I think there might be some problems on the NC at the moment, when I switched on just now they were halfway through the headlines and no headline graphics appeared, then the titles roll and no box appears and then no graphics are now showing at all.

EDIT: all the graphics came on at one after another, then disappeared again, then came back at 20:06

BBC News Channel has joined BBC World News for coverage of the Dubai hotel fire.

Don't recognise the voice of the presenter though?

The News Channel is now simulcasting with BBC World News which is covering the Dubai fire. There was a rather hasty handover as Simon McCoy announced the weather and forthcoming BBC1 bulletin but then announced the channel was joining BBC World News.

News Channel now running coverage on both channels from Studio E

Quite surprised it is being given such prominent coverage here considering it was established relatively quickly that everyone had been evacuated safely and there has been no indication of any suspicious cause. I do wonder if the quite amazing footage has swayed producers and push the story further up the agenda than perhaps it should be.

I'd say there's also the fact that there's not much else circulating about at the moment, and it's a great way to fill an otherwise sparse running order!
