I never even realised that it's a screen!

Having just seen the first edition of Newsday on the NC, it appears as if the memo hasn't been sent out about the changes as it was the WN only opt-out and there was an announcement about Asia Buisness Report, which was then announced as being Reporters by the presenter after the headlines… I think they should have Asia Buisness Report and Sport Today overnight, except when they show the day before in Parliament.

When Babita is on, she usually says something like 'Asia Business Report is coming up for some of our viewers' to avoid any confusion with different regions. Lebo sticks to the script more and so the 12AM broadcast hanged a bit before eventually playing out the closing title.
Didn't see any Newsday last week but I did notice UK headlines are now shown instead of front pages during the break of the 1AM broadcast. On the first, it just went to a Live the Story trailer. It would make sense to do the UK headlines at the earlier time too...or is this a one off?

Good. The 22:25hrs bulletin (at least here) was usually 5 mins of content s t r e t c h e d into 15.
A purely cosmetic exercise, to probably 'tick someone's box'.
BBC News at One, from today has returned to 30 minutes long following the election and the regional bulletin that follows is back to the longer edition. Late news has now returned to 7:30mins.

That would make sense to have the UK headlines at 12am. I don't understand why they changed the back half hour programmes as well. I did notice it took a bit of time before the closing titles played.
I had to double check I was watching the News Channel!

Some stuff just never makes the news even when its outside your front door
Man douses himself in petrol & threatens to set himself alight in 'India rant' outside BBC

It makes sense for the BBC to ignore stunts like this. If they give someone time time of day for something like this more people would come down to try to get attention for their cause.

Some might say ignoring (the clearly brainless) stunt is censorship. I bet if he'd done it anywhere else in London, we'd have had saturation (no pun intended) coverage on the BBC NC.
Rather odd, the BBC normally can't resist hours and hours of coverage about one of their own catastrophes

I'm not so sure. It was over in a (metaphorical) flash from the sound of things, and there's little information on the guy's motivation - though from what little the Express has given to speculate on, someone's personal anguish and possibly even mental health issues don't seem like fitting fodder for a news story. Dozens of people throw themselves in front of trains each year in London and cause more disruption, but they don't make the news.
If he'd managed to keep security and the police at bay for an hour or two and caused a few streets to be closed, or if turns out he was wearing a bomb vest that failed to go off or something, then you've arguably got more of a story.
Edit: And now I've seen more than enough of express.co.uk for one day and feel dirty.
