As a straight forward newsreader, presenter or interviewer I have no problem, it's when he starts acting like Piers Morgan is when he becomes annoying.

I'll be happy to see the back of him, he just doesn't fit into GMB. I think it's a shame they don't utilise Sean for the week, but if they needed someone with a heavier presence (in that sense) then they should have borrowed one of the ITV News team for the week, or even Philip Schofield, he was quite good when he appeared on it on the 24 Hour marathon.

The 6 am opening was also a disaster , Piers messed up the last headline but instead of letting the title music play when he was cut off he decided to keep talking to try and finish the headline over the top of it and his microphone was kept on.

With the amount of times they have overran and sting music has played at the wrong times and graphics flashing on and off screen , I'm starting to wonder if the production team has decided to take the week of with Ben.

After watching on and off for the last few days I've grown to like Piers presence on the show. It's created a bit of an atmosphere, his interview style is good and sometimes controversial and he seems to have been around the building this morning which has opened the show up a little. In terms of his timings he isn't great, but it's definitely set the bar high imo for what can be achieved.

Every day this week, at least once per show, Piers has gone backstage to the make-up room/green room to tease a guest coming later in the show. I don't know if they'll continue that with Ben next week or whether it's a one-off for Piers. I like it.

I agree David. It may go down better with people on here but I personally enjoy little peeks behind the scenes.

At the start of the week, I said that seeing Piers in the morning was a nightmare (or words to that effect).

He has grown on me all week and I have found him to be entertaining, as well as a brilliant interviewer. He has been fantastic interviewing the politicians and really put them in their place, and very compassionate (it surprised me) with a family who had lost their son in a traffic accident.

I would not be surprised if GMB ask Piers back again.

Piers has posted this week's ratings so far on twitter, compared to last year with Daybreak:

I will point out that because of Easter being later last year the equivalent week would have been school holidays for many.

I agree entirely, I thought it was going to be car-crash television, but it's actually been pretty good viewing.

An odd article. Saying in parts that it cost a lot and was a waste of money to get rid of Daybreak as all that is has brought are lower viewing figures, but then seems to say how the change back to a GMTV esque programme has been a bad move.

Reading through the comments on that thread many say that the programme is made for the braindead - I'm not sure that could have been said at launch but a lot of the comments are from Radio 4 listeners who most probably have not watched the programme. Some have mentioned that compared to Breakfast you have to wait for the news however there is a ticker on screen for a lot of the programme (most probably should be all of the programme) and headlines generally every 15 minutes.
Are there ofcom rules preventing a news ticker running beneath adverts in a similar way to Sky Sports' Soccer Saturday?

There's not much they can do though. They have to run a breakfast programme or the argument for a separate breakfast franchise becomes impossible to sustain. There's no point in another rebrand at this stage.
