Have to say - I am loving the new graphics on Domestic. Super clear, doesn't feel at all cluttered. Could be a little smaller, but other than that - big improvement.

Regrettably, there is a cloud of uncertainty over at CNN Domestic and CNNI due to comments CNN Worldwide President Jeff Zucker said in a phone call to employees: "We are going to do less and have to do it with less" . Said phone call was made the same day Turner Broadcasting CEO John Martin sent a memo to all employees that alluded to upcoming layoffs across the board to create a “streamlined, nimble and efficient company".
Zucker also mentioned:
Quote:
“We now have a sense of what Turner is expecting from CNN. I am working with the senior management team at CNN to figure out what this means for us. This will result in changes and what we do and what we stop doing.

It is currently unknown at this time what positions are to be eliminated.

"A Turner spokesman did say that rumors that Turner would sell its CNN headquarters in Atlanta, known as the CNN Center, were "categorically untrue."

We will see if this is corporate lies or not when CNN Center is up for sale in a couple of years. You know TimeWarner is itching to move the entire operation to NYC. They already sold the current TImeWarner Center and have plans to develop a new tower in Manhattan. Im sure the corporate overlords are salivating about moving everything out of Atlanta and hanging the "For Sale" sign on CNN Center.

Most likely, CNN won't move out of Atlanta, especially quietly. CNNI, HLN and CNN En Espanol are still there and they probably won't leave.

Lets hope right. Stranger things have happened. If TimeWarner really wants to cost-cut who know what they will do. Hopefully they wont cut too much.

Most likely, HLN and CNN Domestic will probably eat up most of the cuts due HLN's potential sale to Vice Media (or vice-versa) and CNN's lagging ratings

Hmm. Well I dont think they will sell HLN to VICE. I think it would be a matter of collaborating on a channel, in a joint venture type of way. Again this will take more production away from CNN Center if were to happen. VICE would hardly leave their base in hipster Brooklyn to relocate to Atlanta. There was also talk about a joint venture with Glen Becks BlazeTv channel. I would really hate to see either happen. But as it stands right now HLN is dead in the water, but i would rather see something happen with VICE NEWS rather than another political mouthpiece. channel like BlazeTV which is going to to be another 24hr rant channel.

But thats all speculation as nothing has been confirmed except the cutbacks. So sad that CNN's proud history has pretty much been obliterated.

What TimeWarner needs to do is turn CNN into a rolling news channel in the vein of Sky News and the BBC News Channel, At least they are uninterrupted by opinionated shows.

As long as Fox News continues it nightly shoutfests that draws in the angry elderly audience in droves, i cant see that happening. Would be nice though....a news channel that actually reports the news.

Don't expect that anytime soon. CNN/US is faced with a cable news market that's getting more and more polarized where viewers prefer sycophant opinion hosts over journalists and a shrinking market (no thanks to Fox News Channel and MSNBC). Unfortunately, even if CNN can become a rolling news channel, they would fill the content with a substantial amount of tabloid trash to entice younger viewers who don't care about politics or events happening overseas because advertisers love that segment of the viewership pie.

I heard great things about AJAM from liberals and conservatives in the US so there's a news channel that actually reports the news.
