What TimeWarner needs to do is turn CNN into a rolling news channel in the vein of Sky News and the BBC News Channel, At least they are uninterrupted by opinionated shows.

Don't expect that anytime soon. CNN/US is faced with a cable news market that's getting more and more polarized where viewers prefer sycophant opinion hosts over journalists and a shrinking market (no thanks to Fox News Channel and MSNBC). Unfortunately, even if CNN can become a rolling news channel, they would fill the content with a substantial amount of tabloid trash to entice younger viewers who don't care about politics or events happening overseas because advertisers love that segment of the viewership pie.

I heard great things about AJAM from liberals and conservatives in the US so there's a news channel that actually reports the news.

AJAM is great by all accounts, however the "reputation" from the Arabic channel isn't helping, but if AJE can over that so can AJAM.

CNN International is now using the same presentation as the United States in their commercials...

Do we expect that CNN International adopts CNN Domestic's graphics as well? I hope so.

I have AJAM. Its quite good actually. Very good. It does fall down in some places. The albatross around its neck is going to be the name. Unfortunately, I think American audiences in general wont take to anything associated with AJ. Seeing as they have a notorious history in the US for a variety of reasons.
Another thing is they kinda fall down in breaking coverage in someplaces. When i want rolling coverage they kinda dont do it. Their Ferguson coverage was great. There is no denying that. But for simple on scene extended coverage of a live breaking story, they kept breaking away and I found my self flipping back to CNN or MSNBC as the situation deteriorated. It was interesting to see the behaviour of the police. But AJAM was not showing this rather they had moved on. Whilst their is importance in other stories, this was a major story in the US and warranted I feel extended coverage.

I think the perception of AJ is changing in the U.S. Their target audience, news junkies, and anybody else who is serious about paying attention to news, understands the brand. I think establishing a network in the U.S. made a big splash. There will always be xenophobes like Glenn Beck and his followers who won't trust anything remotely Arabic, so I don't think they'll be able to win over everybody, but they are winning over their target audience.

Real news just won't happen for CNN Domestic. Any private, commercial channel that relies on advertising and cable retrans fees can't do pure, hardcore news. The only channels that can are public, subsidized channels like the BBC or AJ, who can afford the low ratings.

With that said, I have been really enjoying the four hour long CNNI simulcast on CNN Domestic very much. I hope it's permanent. I otherwise don't watch CNN Domestic at all anymore and haven't really ever since Jeff Zucker came in.

CNN Domestic is sadly garbage. Thankfully UVERSE got with the program and gives us CNNUS, CNNI, BBCWORLD, AJAM, and the other NewsTalk Channels. I understand what you are saying about AJAM, I watch, but unfortunately its just not enough at this point to be financially feasible. Whilst Id like to see it succeed. Its going to be a tough sell for the Average person to choose AJAM over the usual players CNN or FNC.

At 06.00 cet CNNI started using the new graphics. As expected they are the same as domestic but the logo box is red and logo itself white. Also they dont use the ticker during news shows, as usual.

New CNN International ticker debut, and it is still a flipper (unlike the one in Domestic) and none for the hashtags.

Interesting article about TURNER2020 and the cutbacks.

It seems odd that they're making cuts, whilst relocating people to NYC. Surely it's substantially cheaper to keep them in Atlanta (unless their long term aim is to get rid of the CNN Center entirely).

They can't get rid of CNN Center entirely. Turner effectively rejuvenated the area and gave it new life. Plus where else is all of CNN's operations will go if CNN Center is closing and CNN will move out of its NYC building? From that Capital New York article, it sounds like CNN will effectively eat most of the cuts compared to the other Turner channels
