ITV Wales to get new news studio

Couldn't find a thread so I'll create one, here is the new set for ITV Wales

Ooh, that's a pleasant surprise! The desk is tiny and it would look better trying to look like the national news desk and not the ITV London desk stretched upwards, but otherwise it looks nice - hopefully whatever system they're using to show a backdrop will be high quality!

Thanks for this. We thought they'd probably get a new set, so nice to see this come to fruition with the move to Cardiff Bay. I guess the backdrop will probably be of Cardiff rather than a Jim Mann newsroom backdrop although we might get both.

It would be nice to see it rolled out to other regions although I certainly wouldn't put money on it.

I am thinking that, because of the height of the desk, that there may be a soft area too.

It's possible, but unlikely I'd say. What would they need it for?

It's not too dissimilar to Granada's set, only difference is that Granada's looks out of a window. So far aside London the only regions that have the new sets are the ones who've moved buildings, so I don't expect a roll out anytime soon.

And the presenters in Wales are sat behind a proper desk.

Still amuses me that they moved all the regions out of their studios the week before the most recent revamp, and all that ended up happening was a piece of blue on the desks and wood effect applied to the base. I know cost cutting is very much the watchword these days, but seriously - would a square desk per region really have hurt so much? Lose the side sofas, it'd've been fine....

Is this going to co-incide with the move to Cardiff Bay?

Looks good - and prefer the higher desk. Not a fan of the lower one used on Granada Reports - don't think it looks right with the chairs.

Would be nice to see them roll out nationwide but can't see it happening any time soon.
