Do they not have any broadcast quality archive of their 80's/90's titles? And the first episode? I've seen better copies uses on other archive shows.
Copies are held in Granada, the Show is made in London, Both offices dislike each other, I dare say there could not be bothered dealing with the northern office
Why has Fern not come back?
Of course the biggest highlight of the show, must be the time when the woman who was lock in her house phoned up, and see was freed..

I'm not sure that's true, but even so, I have better copies of their mid 90's titles than what was used.

They probably just chose the easy option of getting it from somewhere like You Tube, rather than going to the effort of sourcing it from the archive, which unfortunately is quite common nowadays.
Even though the archives are held in different locations, I believe it is managed by ITN Archive now, so London not wanting to deal with Salford shouldn't be an issue really.
It's a shame about the DOG. Is it really necessary?

There went to bother have actually getting the clips out of archive, so why not the first Episode. I do believe the first episodes is NOT lost.

They were actually one of the first programmes to use a DOG. The guidelines are, and always have been, to use one on any items that aren't in the studio, so that any viewers switching on know what they're watching. Bit dated now considering EPGs but I guess being in a different studio could apply to these guidelines.
Whenever a clip of the first episode is shown anywhere it's always in that sort of quality, so it probably doesn't exist in broadcast quality.
What normally happens with such archive is that it's clipped from the last time it was used rather than going back to the original as it's just easier and cheaper (which is the reason why often you'll find a clip that gets shorter and shorter every time it's used)
To say that department A won't give it to department B because they 'dislike each other' is nonsense - I doubt there's even any archive holdings in Salford

It's very easy to spot where the original This Morning studio was on the Albert Dock as the pillars outside it are grey, as opposed to the red that the rest of them are - presumably to stop them showing up too much on camera. As pointed out they appear to be adjacent to the 1988 studio space rather than in it, which I guess is being used for something else now.
The Fred Talbot situation does put them in an awkward position as they can't really show any clips of the map in the old days, including the famous streaker clip (although someone has just tried to recreate it fully clothed, with much less success!).
And as for the DOG - really don't get why This Morning sometimes feel they have to put one up for "occasions". For a week or two in December they put up "This Morning Christmas" in the corner, which seems a statement of the obvious.

Yep spot on, archive is now based in Leeds, the old Calendar building I believe. There was an article on the internal site this week about quite how much archive they've been combing through for the anniversary show. The idea that the northern sites would refuse access to colleagues working for the same company in London because of some perceived historical grudge is bizarre.

No no no no, I never said there would not get the clips. I said there dislike each other big difference...
I dare say First episode of this morning will be around in broadcast quality, but as been said its just easier to use clips that are around,.
Why has that clip with the woman in the house never been mentioned? or is that to high class?
