TV presenting legend has died age 89
I honestly didn't realise he was still alive, I was under the impression he'd died in the early 90s.

Excellent to hear Fantasia on British Sea Songs back on the programme in full. In relation to Auld Lang Syne, The National Anthem is always the last work listed and Auld Lang Syne is by tradition sung by the audience impromptu without the Orchestra as they walk off.

The early 1980s STV logo was certainly functional, but did its job. However their presentation moved up a whole new level when the "Bertie Bassetts" thistle ident was introduced in 1985 and this with numerous refreshes was to be used for the next 14-and-a-half years.
