Wikipedia has a fairly good list of the current studios at Broadcasting House.

Only thing missing is the 8 o'clock BBC One bulletin. Does that come from B seeing as it used to come from TC7?

I thought it was going to come from A. I'm not sure there is a green screen in B.

The summary does come from A. although F was considered for a while........The interesting bit will be when London are in A whilst their new studio and gallery are being built/upgraded.....and how the "opt" works then as both pres will be in the same studio.

One presenter could do national and the opt perhaps - particularly if it was Riz?

Or just prerecord the opt?

Pre-recorded news?!! Shocked The Daily Mail would have a field day!

Why is it difficult to have two cameras pointing at different bits of green wall (Studio A has three green walls to choose from)?

Use the virtual studio kit to put the national pictures where one presenter is stood and the London pictures where the other presenter is stood.

Call the opt, wait a second for the other regions and HD to go and then cut to the other camera.

Is there anything more to it than that?

Not even that, one camera and as you cut the opt, cut the backdrop at the same time. Or have a full screen transition if it need to be covered.

Being pedantic, but if it was coming from the same studio and gallery, technically London wouldn't be opting at all.

And the way you suggested would only be able to use one presenter, where as Steve's theory would mean no change.

I thought the idea was to only have one presenter?

On HD doesn't the main summary presenter than do a weather summary? If so, it would be impossible to do the London opt from the same place, unless the weather is recorded.

No, a weather presenter does the opt-part of the HD broadcast. But given that BBC One and BBC One HD use the same presentation desk these days, would it actually be possible for BBC One HD to opt out of SD, which would be broadcasting London?

Presumably that will need to be accommodated to allow London's main programmes to go out on SD from A while HD puts out the caption/preview loop.

Think that might be the tricky bit.

I think BBC One SD and BBC One HD aren't completely joined on all paths - as the network sustaining feed at 1830 (in SD at least) is the BBC News Channel, whilst the BBC One HD (England) feed carries the holding loop and preview stuff.

However I suspect it's a tricky one - and one you don't want to be messing about with funny switching around.

The 8 doesn't use any virtual elements of the studio, just a simple cso. They have looked at the option of two presenters in different parts of the studio although no decision has been made yet.
