That's amazing, Phen! When you consider that you couldn't see *anything* from outside TVC that's quite a change! I think the poor BBC employees are going to have a constant TV Forum posse outside their windows from now on Laughing

. I hadn't realised that the revolving front doors (under the glass panels with the big BBC letters outside) are the ones which are visible during the newsroom pan in the top right of the picture at every TOTH. :

Sorry to disappoint...they are different revolving doors. The ones under the BBC give access to the reception area and the ones seen at the TOTH are the ones that give access from reception in to the news centre.

Ah I see, thanks for clearing that up.

I have booked a BH tour. Will I be able to see BBC News Studios in operations (e.g. NC and WN) while on it and do they show WN's channel along the corridors?

Does anyone know who designed the Studios at NBH as I haven't seen it on any of the websites.

On a similar note does anyone else see a similarity between Lightwell's New Al Jazeera Arabic Backdrop and TV3 New Zealands's Backdrop?

I believe it was BDA Creative. Also, what news studios are in operation now, the list near the beginning of the thread is now defunct.

Just for anyone interested - I believe that these are the chairs on BBC News. http://www.giroflex.ch/content/produkte/giroflex_64.php

I don't know quite what to say to that, but you are certainly thorough!

The sets in the studios were designed by BDA Creative (which Jago Design - run by Simon Jago - joined a while back)

The studios were probably designed by the BBC, no doubt with input from architects, systems integrators, building services contractors etc. The design of the studios started in the early 00s - but has obviously changed significantly since then (early plans for TV News at NBH included a studio for Liquid News/BBC Three News ISTR)

Something I'm interesting in is that a NBH there is a lot more flexibility in the studio setup themselves. Obviously being able to plan them from scratch has helped, but towards the end at TVC you had them squeezing all as much into individual studios as possible, whereas NBH seems to have generally much more available for use. Is it something to do with the economics of it all - do BBC News own and run these studios, whereas before they were renting them from BBC Studios (well TC7 at least) - or something?

Not making myself particularly clear but the 9pm hour is a great example, far better than it was before. With the licence fee settlement as it is I'd have thought there would have been a similar squash running studios at the new place.

So I assume then if they were designed by the BBC that Studio A, C and E have a similar Sound Insulation to Studio B and TC Studios rather than that of N6 and N8.
