Just out of curiosity, does the Isle of Man ever feature in Granada bulletins. Islanders, as you may recall, "voted" to switch from Border to Granada a few years ago, and OFCOM obliged. Events on the Isle of Man were featured regularly on Border....did islanders vote for TV coverage oblivion?

It does crop up from time to time. I do think they're short-changed, however. They are effectively a separate country yet they don't have proper coverage. I know the population of the Channel Islands is double, but they get a much better deal than Manx viewers.

Surely a 5 minute opt wouldn't hurt? I imagine they'd get big ratings on the island. Obviously the cost must be prohibitive.

The video on the previous page makes what I assume is the new studio space look very much like a physical version of the London set, which is very nice!

EDIT:

You can see the same style screens to the sides of the set, along with the blue of what is, presumably, the desk. Looks like a nice space.

Granada's IoM correspondent used to post his material online here:

Does that mean that we'll get a view of the Quays, or will that be at the back of the studio? I notice there's a black curtain at the end of the large window.

As you say, a lovely space, and I have every confidence Granada Reports will have a very successful move.

Looks as if it's the back. If you look at the lighting and apply some logic from the London/National VR sets.

I thought the same too. Didn't want to be bold and say it without finding someone who agreed! Will be great nonetheless.

I'm looking forward to seeing a "real" version of this set. I love London's VR effort, so this could be great.

Or might not match up with the national one and look cheap/piss poor!

THAT being said I do like that view! So that might compensate for a weak/poor set!

I do even think it might look cheap, but looking forward to see the real version! It would be great. Very Happy

Not too long to wait - 25th March.

It isn't something they can get wrong surely - a square desk, wooden floor, real view, couple of them with a plasma on them. Just a shame it couldn't have been ready in time for the relaunch - and considering this was just around the corner I don't really get why Granada just didn't switch the lighting and paint the yellow on the desk rather than going through the same "deep clean" process as all the other regions for a set which would only be used for a couple of months.
