Relaunch news - http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2012/sport-online.html

My bugbear is why aren't they using the BBC Sport logo??

That's really irritating me aswell - it seems like such a small thing but I think it would make a big difference.

I'm looking forward to the relaunch, though, definitely needed. The statistics do look really promising, and I like the look of the new live pages. I think from what I've seen it may just be missing that something, though, compared to the News site - although I think that has developed really well since it's relaunch, so hopefully the same will happen here.

I really don't understand why you'd spend lots of money on branding their offices for example, which hardly anyone will see, yet they don't bother branding their website, which millions will see? Instead just writing it in a very dull font.

I can probably see the thinking - have it consistent with other parts of the website, but surely they need to allow BBC Sport to have it's own branding. Sky Sports would never ever do that, not in a million years.

Err that is the BBC Sport logo/font. Just in a thinner weight.

If it's in a thinner weight it's not the logo then is it! It used to be logo but it was changed to the bolder font in about 2006ish. It's quite noticeably different.

GEL guidelines, they seem to be pretty keen on titles being that way for main sites like News and Sport.

I still can't get used to the layout of logos on the BBC site. I understand that having two BBC logos in a short space isn't perfect, but consistent branding is so important in this day and age. The BBC One page in particular looks awful, and almost nothing like the actual logo.

The new BBC Sport site is even worse. I just don't understand it.

Bit earlier, about 2004-ish, both Euro 2004 and Athens 2004 both featured it.

I don't think it helps that the S in Sport doesn't line up with the left edge of the BBC logo above it, as the N does on the News website.

And the new sport site is now live. Not too sure why the URLs are (currently) http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/ instead of just http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/

Looking good. Certainly an improvement over the last Sport site.

The only things bugging me on first impression:

- Why is the background on the Formula 1 section black? http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/formula1 None of the other pages have a black background - it looks odd.

- Not convinced about the rollover highlight on the header.

Also, I'm guessing the URLs have "/0" in them for now is because the old site still exists on there until they are sure this one is working 100%, then will delete the old site and change the URLs?

Some pages still have the old look - http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/other_sports/american_football/default.stm

Three nags...

Surely more could have been done with the header than a solid block of BBC Sport yellow, given how output looks on air (ie glossily brilliant).

The "Sport" weight is w-rong and misaligned.

The BBC header still looks a decade out of date and the rollover adds nothing/is strangely annoying.

Other than that, quite like it actually, particularly the right hand column.

Articles with the photos etc left-aligned just aren't as "smooth" as the arrangement in the News counterpart.
Take this for example...
