The new 'jingles' are absolutely awful and have little character compared to the ones that have just been ditched. I won't say that I'm a Radio Manchester listener as such but the jingle running up to the news always had the hair on the back of my neck standing up and even evoked pride in the City whenever I heard it. Such a shame.

I can't say I listen to RM that much these days, but a few years ago when I did regularly the TOTH music they used sounded spectacular and probably the most brash (in a good way) and self important out of any BBC radio station in the area.

At least they've managed to keep the Trish Bertram voice over rather than the generic voices other stations have got.

Surely the jingle change is to make this 'BBC Radio England' thing less noticeable, if all the local stations jingles have the same melody?

Someone in DS posted a link to the website of the agency that has produced the jingle package. There were samples on there, including one from the BBC LR package where the initials 'B B C' are sung. Has to be heard to be believed !

Possibly but they have been trying to get similar imaging on all the stations for many years

Interesting - does that just apply to TV or does Radio 2 need to go through a load of hassle when they want to play a Beatles track?

It doesn't appear associated with images on Radio 2

I must be one of the only people who doesn't mind the new jingle package. Laughing Mind, I do think the current BBC Radio Solent jingles are the best by far across the local radio network.

It's not good when you are driving around the country and every single station has the exact same travel bed and jingle. It's pretty much the same as what happened to ITV regions and BBC & ITV regional news that has now extended to radio as well.

...So it isn't actually the North West Tonight studio, it's just used on the breakfast opt outs, since the actual studio will be used on Breakfast as well.

Could it also be possible that the 3pm NWToday and the 10.30 NWT bulletins will come from this studio also?

On another note... Just watched the new guy on NWT at 10.30, Does this mean that Ranvir now does the 1.30 NWToday?

Since Gordon retired this does appear to be the case now, if anything Ranvir has inherited the anchor position from Gordon.
