It is a bit strange how she "won't return", which implies we've seen the last of her on North West Tonight. Somehow, I think we've seen the last of her altogether if she's leaving the BBC.
Whilst I would like to see the programme go back to single-headed, I wouldn't have Roger Johnson. Perhaps Stuart Flinders or Anabelle Tiffin (and also I would replace the sofa with a desk - I always think it looks odd with one presenter just sitting alone on such a large sofa).
But seeing as that isn't going to happen, I'd like to see Anabelle take over from Ranvir, with Kate Simms as relief.
Complete speculation of course but if there was a market on Betfair I would certainly be having a bet on Roger Johnson not being there for too much longer either, leaving the way for Stuart Flinders and Annabel Tiffin as main presenters with Tony/Kate as reserves, which is how it should have been in the first place IMHO (not that I dislike Ranvir).
Also, I would guess that Ranvir's new role has something to go with a popular morning programme that has recently located to Salford, hence nothing has been announced yet.
Completely agree about the desk situation. I think the news should be read from a desk. I also think the forementioned programme should go back to having a desk for the first hour as well - sets the agenda as a serious news programme rather than entertainment in order to make the difference between the BBCs offering and Daybreak/Granada Reports clear.
