Yeah, that's the best way to describe it. Although not up to the standard of the last batch of idents the actual on screen look isn't bad - but the logo in print and on the DOG is just awful, and they could easily have adopted the new look and kept the much nicer "FIVE" logo.
After all, despite all the **** about the name change ratings haven't exactly shot up because it's now called "5" rather than "FIVE".
Not really a big change but worth noting that the '5' '5HD' and Milkshake DOGs have changed size and moved out of the 4:3 safe zones, with the 5/5HD ones being toned down.

Most channels are following that design now. It seems since the BBC have switched, many more channels are following suit.

What a coincidence, just tuned into Channel 5 HD and thought it was bigger.
Christ, that's so faint you have to wonder what the point in it is at all? The stated case for them was always that it helped the viewer 'know where they are in a multi-channel age' or some such rubbish - but nobody can even see that one!

Is it nowadays more about watermarking content?
Probably, if when downloading a TV show on the internet if it says "CBS HDTV" prominently in the corner you're more likely to know where it was originally on, and then come back to that channel for more (considering most people cut off the credits so it doesn't tell you who it was made by).
Sky's DOG only appears for about 10 seconds but is now brighter during those 10 seconds, I think that's what Channel 5 should have done.

It's been confirmed on DS, how bizarre. The DOG has actually increased in size on HD.
On tonight's 5:30 neighbours, I thought I heard an accidental voice-over during a scene in Harolds? It sounded like someone put up a microphone too early!
